Elizabeth spent the
next day just lying in bed, being lazy. Anna had gone around noon with JC,
but before she left, she told Elizabeth that she wouldn't be back till the
next morning. Elizabeth was kind of glad she had the house to herself. She
planned on cranking the radio up outside and just relaxing on a lawn chair.
It was just after 3 in the afternoon
when she finally got outside. She grabbed Anna's stereo from her room and
headed outside on the patio. She plugged it in and put on the radio before
she layed down in the sun on a lawn chair. She began to sing as a song came
on that she liked.
Justin knocked a few times on the door,
but still no answer. JC had urged him to spend the day with Elizabeth, but
he already had plans with the guys, so he wanted to invite her to come with
them. Justin decided to check the back, he knew she was home because Anna
told him so.
He opened the gate to the patio, and
stepped inside then closed the door. He heard music and could hear someone
else singing. He looked and saw Elizabeth with her eyes closed, singing to
the music. Justin carefully walked over to the stereo and turned it off.
“Hey who…” Elizabeth looked up and
saw Justin standing there, smiling.
“Good afternoon,” he said, cheerfully.
She sat up slowly. “Good afternoon
to you too. I take it they left you behind.”
“Hey I happen to have other friends,”
Justin defended. “I just wanted to come and see if you wanted to come do
something with me and the other guys.”
“Other guys?”
“Some of my other friends,” he said.
He had forgotten she didn’t know about his group. “Their in NSYNC with me
and JC.”
“Um sure, they aren't mean, are they?”
she asked, giving him a skeptical look.
Justin laughed again. “No, not that
I'm aware of anyway. They're very nice guys.”
“Well then let's go, I got nothing
better to do,” she said pulling Justin to the gate.
“Hope you don’t mind that they want
to go bowling,” he said, just as she was unlocking the gate.
She grinned. “Hold on, be right back.”
Before Justin could say anything,
she ran inside and came back out a few minutes later with a bag.
“My favorite sport,” she explained.
“I didn't think you'd even like it.”
He looked at the bag which was purple decorated with small daisies in different
colors.
She looked at him like she was offended.
“You saying that girls don’t like bowling?”
“No, I just didn't see you as a bowler
type. I see you as a tennis type,” he said as they walked out of the gate
towards his car.
When they got in the car, she turned
to him and said, “I don't like tennis. Too boring.”
Justin laughed as he turned the ignition
on. “Even with men playing?”
She made a disgusted face. “I don't
watch sports because of hot guys, I watch it for the excitement.”
He pulled out of the driveway and drove
around the corner. “And what other sports do you like to watch?”
“Pretty much everything except for
tennis and soccer,” she told him.
“Basketball?”
“Yeah. This may sound weird since I'm
from Florida, but I'm a huge Lakers fan.”
He stopped at a red light. “You are?”
She nodded. “But I don't get to watch
it much because of my busy schedule. But I always tape hockey, I love that
sport. It’s really funny to watch.”
He started driving again as the light
turned green. “Funny to watch? You like to watch guys punch each other and
fall on cold ice?”
“Hey it's funny to watch. You don't
ever see the women falling on their butts, do you?”
He raised his eyebrow as he drove.
“Women play hockey?”
“Of course they do, silly. Haven't
you ever seen it on tv?”
“No.”
She smiled. “Well then I'll have to
show you sometime. You know I bet you'd like it.”
Justin drove into the driveway of a
large, mansion looking white house. “Who lives here?” she asked.
He got out of the car. “My other friends.
Come on inside.”
He went over to her side and
opened the door for her. He extended his hand and she took it. As Justin
led her into the big house, she couldn't help but stare at the huge inside,
it was unbelievable.
“Are you okay?” he asked watching her
as she looked around.
She continued to look around. “Yeah
I'm just so amazed. I couldn't even imagine even looking in a house like
this, it's huge.” Her eyes continued to look over every feature of the living
room.
She's so cute.
“Hey man, you made it.”
Elizabeth turned around and saw a young
man, a few years older than Justin, with blonde hair, coming into the living
room.
“Glad you could make it,” he said to
Elizabeth.
“Thanks for letting me tag along with
you guys. I’m Elizabeth.”
“It's a pleasure to finally meet you,
I'm Lance.” He shook her hand as another man came in. He looked a little
older than Lance.
“Lance I said the game isn…” He glanced
at Elizabeth and whistled. “Oh sorry I didn't know you guys were here yet.
I'm Joey.”
“Nice to meet you Joey. Love the hair,”
she said, talking about the red he had just put in his hair a few weeks ago.
Joey glared at his two other friends,
then looked at Elizabeth and smiled. “Thank you, least someone thinks so.”
“Joey, I told you that you lost already,
I can beat your ass another time,” Lance chuckled.
“You see Lance over here, beats Joey
at video games all the time and Joey still thinks one day he can win,” Justin
explained.
“Hey wait for me!” A little old looking
guy entered the room. “Let's go bowling!” His arms swung around as if he
was throwing a real bowling ball.
“This is Chris, he loves to pretend
he can actually bowl,” Joey joked.
Chris shot Joey a look. “Hey I can
bowl,” he said.
Chris walked over to Elizabeth and
kissed her hand. “Nice to finally meet you, Elizabeth. JC said you were living
with Anna, cute girl, and so are you.” He smiled and kissed her hand again.
“Oh Chris stop flirting!”
“Hey shut up Joey!”
Elizabeth went over and opened the
front door. “Why don't we just go bowling?” Though she did find it amusing
how well they get along while making fun at each other at the same time.
Justin stayed behind. After the other
guys were gone, he looked over and smiled at her. “They're nice once you
get to know them,” he said.
She gestured for him to go out first.
“They seem really nice,” Elizabeth said.
“Thank you.” Justin walked out before
her, then she walked out. He locked the door, then they joined the others
in the car and drove to the bowling alley.
----At The Bowling Alley----
They all got a pair of shoes except
Elizabeth, then they headed down to their lane. She slowly pulled out her
bowling shoes.
“What's in there?” Chris asked
curiously.
Elizabeth pulled her bowling shoes
all the way out and they all looked and saw a pair of blue and white shoes.
“You have your own pair?” Joey said.
She put the shoes on. “Hey I happen
to bowl a lot and I always bring my own shoes. Who would want to wear shoes
somebody else has already worn?”
“They're blue, nice choice,” Lance
said as he tied up his last shoe. “Very styling.”
She smiled not looking up from tying
her shoes. “Why thank you.”
“Hey I get to go first!” Chris said,
looking at the names on the screen.
He got up on the alley and picked up
a ball and slowly threw it down the lane. All you could hear was laughs when
it went in the gutter. “Hey that was only my first try!”
He got another ball and threw
it a little harder down the lane, but again it went in the gutter. They all
laughed again as Chris came back and sat down. “Next time they will all fall
down,” he promised glaring at them.
Joey laughed getting up to take his
turn. “Oh Chris, being in denial is easy for you.” He only threw one ball,
and he got them all down. Joey did a little dance then sat back down. “Haha
I got a strike!” he said in Chris' face.
Justin got up then turned around to
face them. “Okay guys, watch a master at work.” He heard boos as he picked
up a ball, but just ignored them and threw the ball down the lane, only leaving
one pin up. “Err,” he said quietly as he picked up another ball, but ended
up missing the other pin.
“Hey nice try,” Lance said patting
him on the back as he got up. “Let me try. But I suck at this game, so don’t
expect much.” He grabbed a ball and threw it down the lane in high speed
and got a strike. “Oh my gosh, I got a strike!” he said as he walked back
to his seat. “Can you believe it?”
“No,” Chris muttered.
Elizabeth high fived Lance, then stood
up and carefully went over and picked her ball. It took her almost three
minutes to choose her ball, then she rolled it down the lane and got a strike.
“How on earth did you do that?” Justin
asked as she sat down. She had thrown the ball and it had curved just enough
to hit the middle. “I’m impressed.”
She smiled. “Well thanks. I told you
I watched bowling on tv. Where did you think I learned how to pick the perfect
ball?”
He couldn't remember having so much
fun with a girl before, or even having fun in the past few months since his
breakup with Meg.
“You're very good.” He put an arm around
the chair she was sitting on. To him, it just felt natural to do.
