Justin walked into Meg’s house a few feet behind her. He was still upset that he couldn't be spending this time with Elizabeth, instead he was stuck with his ex who broke his heart.

Meg walked over to the large sofa and sat down looking nervous. “Please sit with me,” she said.

He did, but didn't want to. It felt uncomfortable. He just wanted this over with as quickly as possible.

“What did you want to talk about?”

“I made a mistake,” she began, scooting over closer to Justin. “I don’t love Rob. I love you.”

“Excuse me?” Justin yelled, getting up from the couch.

Meg tried to take his hand and she managed to push him back onto the couch.

“You cheated on me twice and now your telling me you want me back when I finally have found someone that I care about? Do you know how long it’s taken for me to trust my heart again and let somebody in?”

“I'm sorry…” She touched his hand, but he pulled it away. “I know what a fool I've been. I gave up the only person I care about.”

“Yeah well I cared about you once before and look where that got me. I can't believe I almost gave you another chance at that club!” he exclaimed.

She held out her left hand and Justin looked. The ring was gone. She really did want him back.

“I don't know if I can just let you back into my life, let alone my heart.”

“I love you and I'm sorry. That's all I can say. I wish I never hurt you, I wish I never let you go,” she cried as she took his hand in hers. “Please say that you love me, too.”

Justin was quiet for a few minutes. What could he do? He still had feelings for her, but he had growing feelings for Elizabeth. The two girls were so different. Elizabeth was caring, compassionate, loving, and she loved the things he liked to do. Meg on the other hand, was his first love. She was caring too, not very patient, unlike Elizabeth, and very observant.

“I do love you,” he admitted. “But I also care about Elizabeth. A lot.”

“You need some time,” Meg said getting up from the couch. “Just know that I want you back, all of you, even the part of you that has to leave every once in a while. Justin,” she said softly, reaching for his hand. “She was right. I gave up the best thing in my life.”

He let go of her hand. “You say you love me and want me back, but I can't just forget the fact that you cheated on me.”

“I know,” she said. “But I will do whatever it takes to show you how sorry I am.”

“I just need some time to think things through.”

Meg took a step forward and kissed him. He just stood there for a moment, letting her kiss him. Then he deepened the kiss. He felt guilty, but all the feeling was still there that had been before he and Meg broke up. He missed her, he had to admit that, and he still loved her, but he couldn't deny his feelings for Elizabeth, either.

When he pulled away, he was speechless. “I love you,” Justin blurted out, before pressing his lips to hers for another passionate kiss.

“I love you too,” she whispered as they kissed. “Take me back.” She pressed her lips to his ear. “Please.”

“I still need to think.” He pulled away. “I don't know how deep my feelings go for Elizabeth. I mean I've only known her a few weeks, but I care about her a lot.”

“But you've known me for years, and we're so good together. Please just forget her,” Meg said into his ear.

        “I can't just forget her.” Justin sighed. “I just…”

He was interrupted when he felt Meg kissing him again. He couldn't stop himself, the attraction between them was too strong. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she placed hers around his neck.

Things weren’t going like he had planned.

        Where is he?

Elizabeth sat on the front steps in front of Anna’s house. Justin was almost three hours late. She had a feeling that he wasn’t even going to show up. She couldn't help but wonder was it because of what Meg talked to him about last night.

She had a bad feeling that right now he was still with Meg.

Anna walked out onto the porch and saw her still sitting there. “I thought you had plans with a friend?” She sat down beside Elizabeth.

“He couldn't make it,” she replied, trying to hide her disappointment.

Anna put an arm around Elizabeth. “Are you ok?” Though it wasn’t showing, Anna knew she was a little disappointed.

“Yeah,” she said. “I’m fine. It’s no big deal.”

What a fool I’ve been thinking he could love me.

Elizabeth picked up the basket beside her that contained all of her and Justin’s favorite foods.

“Come on what do you say we not let this food go to waste? Let's go to the lake,” Anna suggested, getting up and heading to the door to grab her shoes.

Elizabeth didn't want her to figure out she was not just going with a “friend” so she smiled.

        “Sounds like a plan.”

At first it looked like Elizabeth wouldn't even smile while they were at the lake. She twiddled the fork in her food, and there was sadness in her eyes. But later, when they went into the water, she was her old self again, fooling around, splashing Anna. She figured she shouldn't cry over a guy she knew she could never have.

When Elizabeth went to her room that night, she found herself staring at the phone beside her bed, but it never rang all night.

“Just like old times.” Meg held onto Justin's arm as they walked out of the downtown club.

“Yeah it was fun,” he admitted as he did up his seatbelt.

“We'll go to my house and get a drink or something,” she said as she pulled the car out of the crowded parking lot. It was almost midnight and pitch black outside, so she switched her headlights on.

        “I don't think that's a good idea,” Justin said. “I should really…Oh my God!”

Meg stopped the car in a panic. “What's wrong?”

“I was supposed to go sailing with Elizabeth today! I can't believe I forgot. She's probably been looking for me.” He put his hand to his head. He couldn't believe his bad behaviour.

“You can call her later or whatever.” Meg put the car back in gear, leaving the club parking lot. “Besides, I know you want me, not her.”

“How would you know that? You don't even know her,” Justin snapped, a little irritated.

“She seems nice but she's not your type,” she said.

        “Maybe my type has changed.”

“Justin that can't change, you're still the same person.” Meg pulled into her driveway. She pulled off her seatbelt then moved over and kissed him. “Come on let's go inside.”

Justin got out of the car and slammed the door. He went inside, but refused to go any further then the hallway.

“I'm not going to bite,” Meg said taking his hand, but he pulled it back and stuffed it in his coat pocket. “You've changed,” she said.

“For the better,” Justin grumbled. “I’ve learned from my mistakes.”

“I know this hard for you,” she said sympathetically, not aware of how strong his feelings were for Elizabeth.

“What am I supposed to do? I think I'm in love with her, and I think I'm still in love with you,” he said angry with himself. “Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow, but right now I need time to think.”

“Sure no hurry.” She gave him one last kiss. “I love you.”

Justin ignored her statement and went out the door. He started to walk home, thinking about what he was going to do. Who did he love more?

Too many questions, not any answers.
