Elizabeth never felt
so heartbroken in her life. This was worse then what happened between her
and Thomas. Justin had actually cared about her, and been there to listen,
and now he had hurt her, and he knew it, but did he care? No.
Men, she thought as she started to
pack her things in the suitcase. Where else could she go but back where she
lived with her mother? That was the only place that held good memories for
her. True she couldn't have the apartment back, but she would be back in
Miami and away from Justin.
What would their relationship have
come of anyways? He was a big shot music star, and what was she? A doctor,
like someone like him would be seen with the likes of her.
“Why are you packing?”
Elizabeth turned around and saw Anna
standing in the doorway. “I'm going back to Miami.” She went back to packing,
heading over to the drawer and pulling out some shirts.
Anna stepped inside the room. “But
why?”
“Because,” was all she could say. What
could she say?
‘Oh, I fell in love with your boyfriend's
best friend, but he chose another girl over me?’ Too humiliating.
Anna grabbed Elizabeth's hand, wanting
her to stop. “What's going on?” she asked, knowing damn well that something
was wrong.
She could no longer hold in the tears,
it was just too much. She began to let her tears fall as she wrapped herself
in Anna's embrace.
“I don't know how I could have been
so stupid!”
“Shh,” Anna said patting her friends
back softly. “What happened? Tell me the whole story.”
She walked over to the bed and
helped Elizabeth sit down. She hoped Elizabeth would settle down so she could
find out what was going on. Anna kneeled on the floor in front of the bed.
“You're gonna say I told you so,” Elizabeth
said, wiping her eyes.
Dare she ask? “Justin?” Anna said.
What had he done to her best
friend?
“What happened with Justin?”
she asked. She could tell when she said his name, Elizabeth was affected
emotionally.
“He got back together with Meg,” Elizabeth
said quietly.
“He didn't!” Anna exclaimed in utter
shock. Everyone had been so sure that he was over her for good. “I can't
believe it! We were so sure he wouldn't do that again.”
“Well he did.…” Elizabeth paused. “After
I fell in love with him. How stupid can I be?”
Anna hugged her. She felt so bad for
her, and she felt guilty. If she and JC hadn't got this plan together to
get her and Justin hooked up, Elizabeth wouldn't be hurting right now.
“I am so sorry,” Anna said softly.
Elizabeth moved back from her friends
embrace. “I'm just the fool....again. I hope you understand that I can't
stay here in Orlando anymore.”
“Yeah, I understand.”
Elizabeth went back to packing. She
neatly folded her shirts, while Anna looked on.
Anna watched from the bed as her friend
packed. She had to tell JC. Someone had to talk some sense into that boy.
Justin was making the worse mistake of his life. Why would he want some player
like Meg, when he could have a sweet, caring girl like Elizabeth?
As Justin held Meg that night on the
couch as they watched a movie, he couldn't get Elizabeth off his mind. She
had taught him so much, and she was the first girl not to care about his
fame or fortune; she actually wanted to get to know him. He knew he hurt
her and it was too late, but he couldn't help but miss her.
He was too stubborn to admit that he
needed her.
He truly believed Meg wouldn't hurt
him again. Maybe she wouldn't, but somewhere inside he knew he had made the
wrong choice.
“You okay, baby?” Meg asked, turning
to Justin, who had tensed and pulled away from her.
“Yeah, fine.” He turned his attention
to Meg and faked a smile. Of course he thought he was fine, but he really
wasn't, and in time he would see it. “I'm great.” He smiled to try and reassure
her and himself.
“Good.” She kissed him, then turned
back to the movie, and kissed him again, which turned into the two of them
making out, not watching the movie.
----A Few Days Later----
Elizabeth said her goodbyes to Anna,
who was crying like crazy, but JC tried his best to calm her down.
“You know I'll call you everyday,”
Elizabeth said hugging her best friend one more time.
“"I hope so.” Anna pulled away, knowing Elizabeth had
to get going. “I’ll miss you,” she said.
“I'll mis.…” Elizabeth was interrupted
with the sounds of people running up the driveway. Elizabeth didn't have
any time to breathe as Chris hugged her tightly. “Nice to see you too, Chris.
Can you let me breathe now?”
Chris finally let her go. “We're sorry
to here you're leaving.”
“Thanks.” Elizabeth found herself wrapped
in Joey's tight arms. “Hi Joey.”
“Why do you have to go?” Joey pouted.
“We enjoyed your company so much.”
“She has things to do,” Anna cut in,
knowing Elizabeth didn't want to bring up the real reason she was leaving.
No one else needed to know how much Elizabeth was obviously hurting. If they
knew the real reason, Justin would be in a lot of trouble. More than he was
already.
“Yeah lots of things,” Elizabeth said.
Lance was next, giving her a short
hug. “I'll miss you most because we beat them pretty good at bowling,” Lance
said smirking.
“Yeah we did.” She thought back to
that day. She remembered how much fun she had with them, especially Justin
when he put his arm around her. And all the other times she had gone out
with Justin and the four guys in front of her, who had become good friends
to her.
She hated leaving, but she had to.
“We'll all miss you,” JC said giving
her the last hug.
Elizabeth caught Anna’s eyes. “Don’t
worry about me,” she said. “I’ll be fine.”
Anna couldn't help but cry. When she
got a hold of Justin, she would kill him. She went over and hugged Elizabeth
once more, then pulled away, knowing she had to go. “Drive safely.”
“I will.”
Elizabeth waved as she got into
her jeep. She waved once more as she drove down the street heading for Miami.
She was determined to get over Justin. She had done it before, dealing with
the loss of Thomas. She could do it again.
