Playoffs -
Finals: Storm vs. Wolfpack
From the ESPN News Wire -
The finals were a hard fought game that was not pretty but ended up with a victory for the Storm giving them their first league championship in the 11 history of the franchise.

The game was intense from the start. The Wolfpack was determined to presure the Storm quarterback and brought heavy pressure the whole game while mixing up their stunts to confuse the Storm offensive line. It worked for the first drive and the Storm turned the ball over on downs.

From there, the Wolfpack took over and moved the ball down the field. A key play was a big first down catch by their tight end. "We had scouted them and knew that we had to get the ball out of the hands of the QB and shut down their tight-end. I was dissapointed with our defense on the first drive because we let the tight-end make a big catch against us to set up their touchdown." said defensive coordinator Randy Burchick. The Wolfpack went for 2 from scrimmage and the Storm defense stopped them.

On the next offensive drive, the Storm was able to move the ball down the field and a pass from Don Davis to Duane Burchick gave the Storm the first score of the game. The extra point kick by Mike Parrish was good giving the Storm a 7 - 6 lead.

The Storm defense stopped the Wolfpack on fourth down and the offense took over, but right before the half, QB Don Davis threw a rare interception (only his second of the year!) and Wolfpack managed to move the ball down the field and score. Again the Wolfpack was denied the conversion. At the half, the score was Wolfpack 12 - Storm 7.

After the half, the Storm defense stepped it up. The defensive line rotation of Matt Wehland, Brian Barker, Rob Montgomery and Don Davis stepped up the pressure. The secondary continued to play well and Brian Miller made a key interception. "The ball was thrown high and short. Brian and Josh were both in a good position to make a play. Brian turned and went high to snatch the ball out of the air with the Wolfpack reciever battling him for the ball. The fell to the ground in a heap and I remember thinking to myself - please hold on to the ball Brian, don't let the Wolfpack reciever wrestle it away from you. I guess all of the weight training paid off because Brian was strong and kept possesion." said Don Davis. This was a key turnover because it stopped the Wolfpack and gave Storm the opportunity to take control of the game.

The Storm offense didn't waste any time. On the ensuing drive, they worked the run, then on a 3rd and long, Don Davis threw a deep out to Chris Hydorn who made a couple of guys miss and 55 yards later, went in for the go-ahead score. Mike Parrish connected on the 2 point kick giving the Storm a 15 to 12 lead.

Now it was up to the defense and they were up to the challenge. The defensive linemen - Brian Barker, Matt Wehland and Rob Montgomery - put furious pressure on the QB while LB Duane Burchick was pursuing sideline to sideline. "There was one play where the QB ran towards our sideline. We beat him to the outside with our whole D-line and Duane slashed in to make the play. Everyone on defense was so pumped up that I knew we were going to win right then and there." said C Bret Foxson. Indeed, the defense came up with a big fourth down stop. With a couple of first downs, and the offense could run out the clock.

Th offense took over and as expected moved the ball on the groud with a punishing option attack. They moved the ball just outside the Wolfpack 20 and had a third down and short. "We knew we could beat the right cornerback on a deep route, so decided to try the deep ball to Duane. I overthrew him by a couple of feet. Unfortunately, this meant that the Wolfpack would get the ball back if we didn't make the first down...not a very smart call." said QB Don Davis.

For the 4th down call, the Storm kept the ball on the ground, but QB Don Davis had trouble handling the snap and instead of picking up the yard they needed, lost a couple. There were about 30 seconds left on the clock and the Storm again called on their defense to stop the Wolfpack. The first play was a 30 yard crossing route to get the Wolfpack past midfield. However, the Storm defense stepped it up and ended the game with heavy QB pressure as time ran out.

It was a great ending to a great season.

Final Score: Storm 15 - Wolfpack 12

Semifinals: Storm vs. Country Boys
From the ESPN News Wire -
Storm's semifinal matchup was against the Country Boys who upset the Falcons in their first round game.

The Storm started off well with a nice opening drive finished with a TD run by QB Don Davis. Mike Parrish nailed the 2 point kick. The Storm defense played well throughout the game with Matt Wehland and Brian Barker putting good pressure on the quarterback while the Storm DBs played tight coverage. The defense stopped the Country Boys and the offense once again did their job scoring on a 20 yard pass that was tipped up in the back of the end zone to Chris Hydorn. "I actually was throwing the ball to Steve [Shehade], but there were three yellow jerseys in the area and someone tipped the ball up in the air, then Chris came along the back of the end zone to collect the ball and score the touchdown." said Don Davis. The extra point was blocked.

Right before the half, the Country Boys put together a string of jump balls to move down the field and score their first touchdown. They kicked the extra point to make the score 14 - 7.

After the half, the Storm defense continued to play well and the offense scored on a strike from Don Davis to Steve Shehade for a 40 yard touchdown. The two point conversion was muffed but it didn't matter. After another defensive stand, the Storm got the win.

Final Score: Storm 20 - Country Boys 7

Quarterfinals: Storm vs. Wailers
From the ESPN News Wire -
Storm's first round matchup was against the Wailers who were supposed to play a preliminary round versus Pete's Wicked, but Pete's didn't show up for the game.

This game was marred by an extraordinary number of penalties against the Storm, mostly for holding and illegal blocks. Many of the calls were quite suspect. However, even with these difficulties, the Storm was up to the challenge. The Storm defense was strong all day and started off the scoring with a 75 yard interception return for a touchdown by Brian Miller. The two point kick was wide left.

The offense moved the ball pretty well, but the penalties took their toll and killed the drives before the offense could score. A notable play at the end of the first half was a punt return by Don Davis.  The punt was much deeper than the defense expected and sailed over Davis' head. He retreated from about the 30 yard line to the 2 yard line to retrieve it and then broke it up the field. He got some good blocking and took it to the Wailers 20 yard line before being caught by the Wailers safety. "I was so angry that I got caught on that play! I had broken the run into the open field and I NEVER get caught in the open field, but I was so tired after running back to get the ball at the goal line and then running all the way across the field to the opposite sideline. I had sprinted over  100 yards at that point and as anyone who trains with me knows, I'm a short sprinter.  I simply didn't have any energy to kick it into the next gear. I hope he enjoyed catching me...it won't happen again." said Davis.

After the half, the Storm defense continued to play well and drove the Wailers back to their goal line. Then Duane Burchick came up with a big safety. The next drive, the Storm drove down and scored on a nice little 5 yard cut-back run by Don Davis to put the game out of reach.

Final Score: Storm 14 - Wailers 0

Week 9 - Storm vs. CRC Falcons
From the ESPN News Wire -
The Storm win their first regular season championship in franchise history with an impressive win against the Falcons.

The game started off with a nice kick return by Don Davis. Then after a 20 yard pass to Rob Adkins, QB Don Davis got the corner around the right end for a 41 yard TD run. However, the Falcons put together a nice drive and tied the score at 8.

On the ensuing kickoff, Don Davis took the ball 85 yards for his second kick return touchdown of the year behind a nice block by Mike Parrish.

On the next drive, the Storm defense came up big when Don Davis stepped in front of a short pass, intercepted it and returned if for a touchdown. With the half winding down, the Falcons got the ball with good field position behind a nice return and scored as time expired. The score at the half was Storm 20 - Falcons 16.

After the half, the Storm defense forced another turnover when Josh Foxson intercepted a pass. The the running game took over. Two option plays resulted in another rushing touchdown for QB Don Davis.

Then Josh Foxson intercepted his second pass of the day and this time returned it 80 yards for a touchdown. The Falcons came back and scored a touchdown, but at that point it was too late and time ran out.

The league playoffs are next Sunday November 11. Storm will go into the playoffs as the number one seed. Kickoff time is TBD. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 8:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 32 - Falcons 22

Week 8 - Storm vs. Wailers
From the ESPN News Wire -
Storm rebounded from their loss last week with a dominating performace over the Wailers. Their first offensive drive took 2 plays: a 45 yard run by Duane Burchick (who re-injured his hamstring on the play) and a 15 yard TD catch by Rob Adkins. The 2 point try was stopped short.

The next offensive drive started with a number of runs up the middle by QB Don Davis to move the ball to the Wailers 20 yard line. Then a 20 yd pass to Chris Hydorn put the Storm up by two touchdowns.

Rob Adkins had an interception on the ensuing drive to stop the Wailers and after a couple of Storm incompletions, end the half.

In the second half, Storm picked up where they left off demostrating their powerful running game and finishing their third TD drive of the day with a zig-zagging, start and stop 10 yard TD run by QB Don Davis.

The Wailers then scored on a long TD pass, but when the Storm offense got the ball back, they put the game away with a 45 yard pass to C Bret Foxson, then a 5 yard TD pass to brother Josh Foxson.

Storm's final game of the regular season is a rematch versus CRC Falcons on November 4 at 10:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 9:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 26 - Wailers 6

Week 7 - EMS Dolphins vs. Storm
From the ESPN News Wire -
The Storm lost their first game of the season to a smart Dolphins team. The game started off pretty well with an 80 yard touchdown drive capped off by a nice HB option pass from RB Duane Burchick to WR Steve Shehade. In this drive, it appeared that the Storm had everything working. They ran the option successfully and Rob Adkins had three receptions on crossing routes for 30 yards in addition to a 20 yard run. The two point kick was blocked, but a penalty gave the Storm a second chance. This time, K Mike Parrish simply missed it.

Storm 6 - Dolphins 0

However, on defense, the Storm could not seem to get anything to work. The Dolphins responded to the Storm touchdown with a touchdown of their own. They made the extra point and for the first time this season, the Storm trailed in a ballgame.

Dolphins 8 - Storm 6

With time winding down in the first half, KR Don Davis made a nice run back to set up the Storm for a quick score. After a penalty, Davis hit Duane Burchick on a 27 yard post-corner pattern for the second touchdown of the day. "That was a nice catch by Duane, I forced it in there with about three defenders converging on him and he kept his concentration and made the play. " said QB Don Davis. Again, Storm missed the 2 point kick.

Storm 12 - Dolphins 8

Unfortunately, the offense scored too fast. There was less than two minutes left in the half, but the Storm defense was not up to the task of stopping the Dolphins. After a long runback by the Dolphins, it took them only two passes to score. The second one went for 65 yards and a TD. This time the Dolphins also missed the 2 point kick.

Dolphins 14 - Storm 12

There was still about 20 seconds left in the half and again KR Don Davis made a nice run back to put the Storm in a position to take a shot at the end zone. WR Duane Burchick broke free deep and Davis laid the ball out there for him, but Burchick couldn't quite make the catch which would have been a sure touchdown.

After the half, things went even worse for the Storm.
The Storm kicked off and again the Dolphins came out, drove down the field and scored.

Dolphins 20 - Storm 12

The Storm got the ball after a short squib kick and runback. They started one of their patented smashmouth drives, but stalled in the red zone after losing both LT Doug Tingle and RB Duane Burchick to injuries. The injuries happened on the same play, which could have went for a touchdown. "I was running right on an option play. Don pitched me the ball and I had a clear lane behind the kickout block that Dougie gave me. Right as I went to plant, I felt a pop in my hamstring and simply couldn't accelerate. Otherwise, I'm sure I would have scored...there was no one else in a position to make a play. " said Duane Burchick.

However, even though the drive stalled, this was the worst field position that the Dolphins had all morning. If the defense could come up with a big stop, it looked certain that the Storm could put the game into overtime. However, it was not meant to be. The Dolphins drove down the field and five plays later had sealed the victory with a 26 yard touchdown pass to their center. The 2 point kick was good.

Dolphins 28 - Storm 12

The Storm continued to play hard and drove the ball down the field, but there was not enough time left to stage a comeback.

Even with the loss, the Storm retains the #1 position in the Chesapeake League, but they will have to play better to hold on to this position for the rest of the season.

Storm's next game is versus the Wailers who are currently 1 - 6 on October 28 at 11:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 10:00 am EST

Final Score: Dolphins 28 - Storm 12

Week 6 - Storm vs. Pete's Wicked
From the ESPN News Wire -
It wasn't pretty, but the Storm got their 6th win of season last Sunday versus Pete's Wicked. The game started out pretty good for the Storm. After a nice kick return, QB Don Davis completed a long 45 yard pass to WR Josh Foxson which put them inside Pete's 20 yard line. Unfortunately, that would be the longest pass play of the day. Worse yet, after setting up inside the 20, the Storm proceeded to move backwards on a series of false starts, sacks and other penalties. The offense turned the ball over on downs.

The good news was that the Storm defense was up to the task of stopping Pete's (not-so-) Wicked offense. Storm forced a punt, but didn't manage a return since Pete's punter put the ball more than 60 yards into the end zone. Again, the offense moved the ball down the field but stalled out in Pete's territory.  At the half, the score was tied 0 - 0.

To open the second half, the Storm defense came up big again, stopping Pete's Wicked with an interception by Mike Buczynski. However, the offense was again unable to convert. Behind the leadership of DE Brian Barker, who had 2 sacks on the day, the Storm defense forced a second punt. Again, there was no return. This time however, the Storm offense went back to their powerful running game. A simple toss left to RB Duane Burchick went 50 yards for an apparent touchdown, but was called back for holding. However, after a couple of short runs and passes, the Storm went with a slot reverse play to Duane Burchick who went 45 yards for the only touchdown of the day. this time there was no penalty. K Mike Parrish made the 2 point kick and the Storm got their first score with less than 2 minutes left in the game. "They were playing a smart defense. They brought a lot of fast pressure up the middle while playing soft with their linebackers and ends. This meant that they were effective at stopping the middle runs while they could also string out the wide stuff. Another problem was that we were not aggressive enough with our run blocking. Since they were playing soft, we needed to get downfield to block them instead of waiting for them to penetrate." said C Bret Foxson.

Storm 8 - Pete's Wicked 0

Pete's had less than two minutes to move the ball down the field and their offense hadn't shown any life up until this point. The Storm defense continued to play well, but after a questionable pass interference call near the Storm 20 and an offsides penalty, Pete's had one play and 5 seconds left to try for the score. They threw a nice pass to the right corner of the end zone, but CB Mike Parrish, who had played solid all day, came up big again breaking up the pass and shattering any hopes Pete's Wicked had of pulling off the biggest upset of the year.

Storm has looked a bit vulnerable the past two weeks with some sloppy play and mental errors. They will have to clean up their game before playoffs if they expect to continue their perfect season.

Storm's next game is versus the Dolphins who are currently 3 - 2 on October 21 at 11:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 10:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 8 - Pete's Wicked 0

Week 5 - Wolfpack vs. Storm
From the ESPN News Wire -
The battle of the undefeated Storm and Wolfpack promised to be one of the best matchups of the year. As it turned out, the Storm dominated all aspects of the game and never trailed, despite some uncharacteristic sloppy play.

The Storm received the opening kickoff and almost broke the return for a touchdown. KR Randy Burchick fielded the kick and sprinted towards the middle while KR Don Davis was running to the outside. Burchick pitched the ball slightly behind Davis who couldn't hang on to it. Otherwise, there was nothing but the end zone in front of him. It didn't matter, the Storm still had good field position and after a short pass to OL Dennard Marbury who picked up 13 yards and two snaps into the ground, the Storm got on track with a short swing pass to SB Randy Burchick who made a couple of nice moves and took the ball 55 yards for the first touchdown of the game. The Storm set up for a two point kick, but ran a fake instead. QB Don Davis threw a corner pattern to Randy Burchick for the conversion.

Storm 8 - Wolfpack 0

The Storm covered the ensuing kickoff and after a couple of short Wolfpack passes and QB runs, stopped them on fourth down. The Storm offense again took over with Davis completing a nice pass to WR Steve Shehade for 18 yards and then a 35 yard touchdown pass to WR Josh Foxson who was streaking up the left sideline. The extra point was no good.

Storm 14 - Wolfpack 0

The next drive was the Wolfpack's best of the day. They moved down the field behind their scrambling QB and underneath passes. With time running down in the half, they scored on a QB option run right. The two point try was intercepted by CB Randy Burchick.

Storm 14 - Wolfpack 6

Storm received the kickoff and KR Don Davis brought the ball back to just over the 50 yard line, but time ran out before the Storm could put together an offensive series.

After the half, the Wolfpack got the ball first, but the Storm defense came up big, stopping them on their second fourth down try of the day. While the defense did not have a big day statistically, they played effective "bend-but-don't-break" defense. LB Matt Wehland in particular had a nice day with 3 tackles and 5 passes defended. The Storm offense took over with the chance to put the game away. However, they looked sloppy and unfocused.

The drive commenced with a false start. After a short run and then an incomplete by QB Don Davis. The Storm got a holding penalty. Finally, they snapped the ball into the dirt. This brought up 4th and 25 from the Storm 35 yard line. QB Don Davis said "There was no doubt in my mind that we had to go for it. I saw that we could beat these guys on any play if we simply executed our offense." But 4th and 25 was a long way to go. The Wolfpack was in a prevent style defense and only rushed two. This helped the offensive line who really stepped up and held the defensive ends at the line of scrimmage. This gave QB Don Davis time to throw a DEEP 24 yard out to Randy Burchick. "It was a play we worked on in practice this week. Basically I run a fade route, then break it off to the outside right at the cone. Normally we run it about 10 or 15 yards deep. Here we needed 25." said Randy Burchick. "Randy actually was only about 24 yards deep, but the DB worked underneath him and was late on his break. This let Randy spin away from him and make the first down. After that, it was off to the races and no one catches Randy in the open field." said QB Don Davis. It was a 65 yard touchdown pass and the longest pass play of the season for the Storm. The extra point was no good.

Storm 20 - Wolfpack 6

On the next drive, the Wolfpack again put together a string of plays to move the ball down the field and capped this off with a short TD pass. They missed the two point try.

Storm 20 - Wolfpack 12

The Storm had good kick return and set up their offense in Wolfpack territory. The goal was to simply run out the clock. QB Don Davis kept the ball on the ground with a series of 10 - 15 yard runs that safely picked up first downs and ended any Wolfpack hopes of getting a shot at tying the game.

"Overall, I'm thrilled with this win. Any time you have two undefeated teams battling it out and you come away with the win, you have to be happy. We had guys step up and make big plays when we needed them. That fourth down play was just incredible. However, I was not happy with our execution on offense today. We had too many mental errors and almost let this get away from us. On defense, it took us until the second half to get our scheme working. We have to address these issues and get them cleaned up for next week and the rest of the season." said coach Doug Tingle.

5 - 0 is the best start for the Storm franchhhhise in it's 10 year history. Coming away with a big win versus the Wolfpack while not playing their best ball is quite impressive. The challenge for the rest of the season will be to keep focused and close out the regular season and playoffs the same way they have played the first half of the season.

Storm's next game is versus Pete's Wicked who are currently 2 - 4 on October 14 at 10:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 9:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 20 - Wolfpack 12

Week 4 - Country Boys vs. Storm
From the ESPN News Wire -
This Sunday brought another impressive showing by both the offense and defense of the Storm. On offense, the Storm scored a touchdown on every possession. On the defensive side of the ball, the Storm stifled the Country Boys and never let them get near the red zone the entire day.

The first drive started with a short run up the middle, then a long pass to WR Josh Foxson. The next play, QB Don Davis overthrew SB Rob Adkins on a deep seam route in the end zone. This would be his only incompletion of the day. Davis ended up 5 of 6 for 107 yards, 1 TD and the highest possible QB rating of 158.33. SB Randy Burchick scored the TD off of a nice run to the left. The two point kick was no good.

Storm 6 - Country Boys 0

The Storm defense took over and managed to push the Country Boys back deep into their own territory and force a punt. The Storm offense setup deep in Country Boy territory, but QB Don Davis was sacked twice in the face of a furious Country Boy rush. The next play, Storm went on two to pick up 5 easy yards, then Davis completed a deep fade pattern to WR Randy Burchick for their second score of the half. "We worked on that pattern in practice this week. It was nice to see it work in a game." said Randy Burchick. The two point kick was blocked.

Storm 12 - Country Boys 0

After the half, the Storm defense continued where it left off. Brian Barker was particularly dominant logging three sacks on the day. In addition, LB Rob Montgomery, who was starting in place of Duane Burchick had a great defensive game. He finished the day with  three tackles, one pass defense and one interception off of a deflection by CB Brian Miller. The only offense the Country Boys could get going were a two jump balls over Storm's CBs but these were far from sufficient to sustain a drive. After Rob Montgomery's interception, the Storm took over again. Mike Buczynski caught a long pass on the right, C Bret Foxson caught a short tipped ball over the middle and almost turned the corner on the defense. Then Randy Burchick took a toss left and ran it in for another rushing touchdown. "Randy had the option to throw a pass to me in the back of the end zone or run it in himself. When the lane opened up, he simply accelerated to the end zone and made it in untouched." said WR Brian Miller. Again, the two point kick was no good.

The Storm has demonstrated consistent dominance in all aspects of the game, but next week's game may prove their toughest test yet in a matchup of the only undefeated teams left in the league.

Storm's next game is versus the 3 - 0 Wolfpack on October 7 at 9:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 8:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 18 - Country Boys 0

Week 3 - Storm vs. Jaguars
From the ESPN News Wire -
The Storm overcame their biggest challenge of this young season on Sunday by beating a tough Jaguar team. The opening kickoff was fielded by KR Don Davis and the offense started the first drive in Jaguar territory. While the Jaguar's were mostly successful in stuffing Storm's powerful inside running game throughout the day, they couldn't do this without opening up the outside. Storm took advantage immediately, capping their first drive with a nice touchdown pass in the back of the end zone from QB Don Davis to WR Randy Burchick. K Mike Parrish, who was playing with an injured left foot missed the 2 point kick.

Storm 6 - Jaguars 0

The Jaguar's drove down the field, but DB Brian Miller shut them down with his first of two interceptions on the day. On the ensuing drive, the Storm displayed their powerful running attack capped off by a 20 yard touchdown run by RB Duane Burchick. "Duane is amazing every time we run the Speed Toss" said QB Don Davis "I toss it to him and see three defenders who have him dead-to-rights, then Duane makes one miss, Doug [Tingle, OL] comes over and blasts one of them and Duane outruns the last one...just incredible." Mike Parrish converts the 2 point kick.

Storm 14 - Jaguars 0

With about five minutes to go before half time, the Jaguars put together their best drive of the morning. They got it started with a long completion, then ran a power sweep left for the touchdown. The two point conversion was good.

Storm 14 - Jaguars 8

On the ensuing kickoff, the Jaguars kicked the ball out of bounds; fearing a big Storm return. Storm drove down inside the red zone before time ran out after a 35 yard pass completion to WR Steve Shehade.

After the half-time break, Storm kicked to the Jaguars and the defense came up big, stopping the Jaguars with a furious rush from the defensive line. This culminated when DL Malik Tolliver batted a pass attempt up into the air and then intercepted it. The Storm offense took over with great field position, but failed to convert the touchdown. "I think I got a little pass-happy. Randy and Chris [Hydorn] were getting open behind their defensive backs, but I just couldn't get the ball there on time." said QB Don Davis. Storm turned the ball over on downs.

Shortly after the Jaguars took over, the Storm defense gave up their longest play from scrimmage on a sweep right which went up the sideline, 60 yards, for the score. The Jaguars missed the extra point try. While the Storm has not trailed in any game this season, this was the first time that they were tied, other than at the start of a game.

Storm 14 - Jaguars 14

"At this point, I knew we had to step up, make some plays and get back to our game plan. If we didn't make it happen here, we were in for some trouble." said QB Don Davis. To start things off, the Storm put together another good kickoff return and their offense took the field in Jaguar territory. The Storm went back to their running game, relying on the toss left and right and some short runs up the middle to keep the defense honest. "The offensive line stepped up and really asserted themselves. We just started knocking people off the ball and gaining yards in 10 to 20 yard chunks." said RB Duane Burchick. Down inside the 20 yard line, the Storm ran the option for the first time on the day. On the first option play, QB Don Davis kept the ball for a 10 yard gain. This set up the touchdown run, which was the exact same option play, but this time, after faking the cutback to freeze the defense, the pitch went to Randy Burchick who accelerated and outran all the defenders to the pylon. Mike Parrish added the 2 point kick. "That drive was great. We imposed our will on the defense and used up most of the fourth quarter. At that point, it was up to our defense to bring it home." said C Bret Foxson.

Storm 22 - Jaguars 14

The Storm covered the kickoff well and on the very next play. LB Duane Burchick cut off the pass from the Jaguar QB and ran it back for a touchdown. "That was exactly what we needed on defense. Our offense had stepped up and done their part, then the defense did the same." said DL Brian Barker. Mike Parrish missed the 2 point kick...but managed to nearly knock out OL Doug Tingle by nailing him in the back of the head.

Storm 28 - Jaguars 14

The Jaguars got the ball back, but that drive was short lived... Brian Miller made his second interception to end the game.

Storm's next game is versus the 1 - 2 Country Boys on September 30 at 11:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 10:00 am EST

Final Score: Storm 28 - Jaguars 14

Week 2 - CRC Falcons vs. Storm
From the ESPN News Wire -
Storm's defense came to play on week 2. The Storm had one of the most impressive and dominating defensive showings in league history.

The game opened up with an out-of-bounds kickoff by the Falcons. Apparently, they had scouted the Storm from last week and determined not test their special teams. The Storm offense took the field and drove into Falcon territory before the drive stalled. However, this meant that the Storm defense could begin to put on their show. DB Randy Burchick got things going with a 90 yard interception return for the first touchdown.

From there, the defense continued to play well. All told, the Storm had 5 interceptions and 3 were returned for touchdowns. DB Josh Foxson picked one off over the middle, Randy Burchick had a second interception, Brian Miller made a great leaping catch on a deep ball, ran it down to the 20 yard line and then lateralled to Michael Parrish who ran it in for a touchdown. Duane Burchick capped off the game by intercepting a slant route and running it back for a TD. "Duane absolutely exploded to the ball. It was like he was shot out of a cannon." said offensive coordinator Don Davis. The defensive line (Brian Barker, Rob Montgomery and rookie Matt Wehland) also played well, they had 2 sacks and kept the QB from running for the entire game. In addition, many of the interceptions can be at least partially credited to the DL because they had the QB throwing off of his back foot all morning.

With such a dominating defensive performance, the offense didn't have much of a chance to play. However, when they were on the field, they were quietly effective after the first drive. A quick pitch to RB Duane Burchick went 50 yards for a touchdown behind a great kickout block by OL Doug Tingle and some nice downfield blocking by WR Josh Foxson. On their next and final opportunity, Storm QB Don Davis hit Brian Miller on a 61 yard TD pass.

Another highlight was the play of K Michael Parrish who kicked 5 two-point conversions and was rock solid on kickoffs, pinning the Falcons deep in the corner on multiple occasions.

Storm has made significant improvements to its already formidable arsenal between weeks 1 and 2. They will be the team to watch for the remainder of the season. Storm's next game is on September 23 at 8:00 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 7:30 am EST

Final Score- Storm 40 - Falcons 0

Week 1 - Storm vs. Team Force
From the ESPN News Wire -
Storm started the season strong with a decisive 31-12 win over Team Force. QB/KR Don Davis ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards behind the crushing block of RB/LB Duane Burchick. The point after attempt was a fake kick that turned into a easy catch for WR/DB Randy Burchick.

Team Force took over and behind the quick release of their QB, managed to string together a long drive of short crossing routes. They drove the ball down to the Storm 18 yard line before the Storm defense came up with a big 4th-down stop. The Storm offense took over and set the tone by executing a power run up the middle.  OL Doug Tingle and Malik Tolliver took the defensive ends out of the play, Duane Burchick cleared the hole while Randy Burchick provided the lead block to spring Don Davis on an 82 yard touchdown run on Storm's first play from scrimmage!  DB/K Mike Parrish added the extra point.

On the next Force drive, Randy Burchick intercepted a pass and ran it back to the Force 20 yard line. From there, Don Davis threw a short pass to WR/DB Chris Hydorn who, after making a couple of Force defenders miss, took it in for the touchdown. Again, Mike Parrish added the extra point.

On the final drive of the half, Team Force managed to move down the field and this time scored with a few seconds left. On the extra point try, WR/DB Brian Miller intercepted the pass and ran it back 98 yards giving Storm 2 more points.

Storm 23 - Force 6

After the half-time break, Storm's defense stepped it up a notch and stopped Team Force with a nice interception by DB/WR Chris Hydorn. However, just a few plays later, QB Don Davis threw a poor pass after rolling left and it was intercepted by Force. "It was a bad pass, worse than that, it was a bad read. I should never have thrown the ball. There was double coverage on Randy while Josh [Foxson, the backside receiver] was wide open. No excuses, I simply have to discipline myself to play better in those situations." said Don Davis. Team Force scored after the interception, but missed the extra point try.

Storm 23 - Force 12

The ensuing kickoff was returned by Don Davis to the Force 35 yard line behind the crushing block of Randy Burchick. "Randy had at least two pancake blocks today and really made his presence felt out there." said Coach Doug Tingle. The next play was a fade route to Randy Burchick which he caught for Storm's fourth TD of the day. The extra point was kicked by Mike Parrish, this time from the 10 yd line for 2 points.

"Except for a couple of penalties and the interception by Don  we had a very good offensive game" said Coach Doug Tingle, "the biggest worry I have is that we did not get a chance to run enough plays...we scored on almost every play from scrimmage. I guess that is a good problem to have! In addition, our special teams were a nice surprise. Not only were we effective in returning kicks, we also managed to kickoff pretty well and executed for the extra points. Mike did a nice job there."

"Defensively, we played pretty good. Force was a difficult team to defend because their QB has such a quick release. Once we started to shut down the crossing routes we did better. Overall, we had people in position to make plays. As the season progresses, we have to start actually making those plays with more consistency." said LB and defensive captain Duane Burchick.

Storm looks to be the team to beat this year. No other team in the league has demonstrated their combination of speed, size, and intensity. Storm's next game is on September 16 at 9:05 am EST at Andover Stadium. Pregame coverage starts on ESPN3 at 8:00 am EST
