Guide to Roleplaying. Page 3.

A few tips on roleplaying for those of you new to the concept.

1) Setting: Imagine yourself in ancient Korea. No television, no computer, no words such as "homie" or the obvious curses. No one understands the words "Afk," "Brb," or "lol." Imagine how you would feel and act in such times under such conditions.

2) Personality: Create a separate personality (or use your own) to define your character. Give it some depth. Is your character one with a cold heart? Is it one with a complicated past? Your character has to act and be exactly the way someone in that character's position would act and feel.

3) History: History defines who you are. A simple "I was born, I fight" history makes no sense (if it did, you'd be nothing more than a drone). Make up a summarized history that would take an entire nmail to type out. Put some depth into your character's actions by defining their past. It's also best to check up nexon's web site if you want to tie in your history with any major events.

4) Paths: Which path is best for your character depends on how you've defined him or her so far. Is your character one who fights to the death for his country? Is your character slick and deceptive? Is your character neutral in all engagements? This is extremely crucial to how you choose a subpath, for each subpath works on a general concept of how one acts and feels. Choose only the one that best suits your character.

To show how these simple steps work, take this character:

Setting: Han Empire, B.C. times, during Yuri's rule over Koguryo.

Personality: Holds honor with high regard, stubborn, relentless, but always ready to lay down his life for his love, family, or country. A dedicated warrior who knows the battlefield well, and belongs in the front lines. Seemingly cold-blooded, but with a kind heart, what defines Dukati the most is that he lets his actions speak for himself.

History: Born under a commercial Estate that builds arms for the Han Empire, the last surviving heir. Dukati has been raised on dedication and nobility. When he was fifteen, he joined the Han Imperial Forces, and quickly gained rank and skill. After an incident (btw this "incident" is a 10-chapter long story on my web site) occured in his life, he was forced to move to Buya.

Path: Chose warrior, then Chongun. His creed is similar to theirs, for he protects the innocent, defends his people, and always sticks by the code of honor. However, he usually finds himself an outsider of the path, for he follows the creed in his own way.
