This is a dissertation on money in Nexus:
I am SO tired of everyone thinking I am lucky because I have money. I will tell you the secrets behind my wealth.
1. You don't get money by griping or begging, you get it by making it for yourself. HOW?
There are an incredible array of wealth making schemes in the game. (By the way, I have been told some of these methods I am listing below don't work. That is quite correct if you are looking for a get rich quick scheme. The only way I know of to get rich quick is to abuse a bug, and that isn't what I consider worth my time. These are get rich SLOW schemes, but they work. They work even better if you use ALL of them in a consistent manner. Every technique here I use on a daily basis. Even as I write this I am working on my mining, smelting, and metal crafting skill to bring them up and to get rich faster by making weapons and armor that sell for more money. On the average day I only make about 100k between everything. My goal is 1 million every 10 days. )
a. You can craft ambers, for every 100 you craft and sell the the gem buying place, you will get about 15k or more. Ambers are easy to get, just kill something. I do NOT suggest buying ambers to craft. The average going price of 100 ambers is 35k, however, the average selling price of the ambers after crafting when you are less than talented is 15k, so you aren't gonna make any money that way. (On the other hand, if your goal is to increase your gem crafting skill and money is no object, buying ambers to craft is ok.)
b. You can mine metal and then smelt it and then turn it into weapons. This isn't as fast at lower skills like novice, but it gets faster as you advance in your skill. I made my first million coins this way. Of course part of this is that you get other things like amythest to sell, which can be sold to the shop just to the right of the south gate of buya. Once again I do not suggest buying the metal to craft, you won't earn as much as you pay to buy the metal. (Again unless all you are trying to do is increase your skill and money is no object.) Recently, metal has become quite a hot item, so if you don't care about becoming a smith, I suggest you mine the ore, smelt it, and sell the metal. Selling ore has also become quite profitable due to the number of people trying to become master smelters.
c. You can kill bosses. Risky at best, but if you survive, you will get like 5+k for most items. This use to be a very good money maker, a lot of the drops would go for over 200k, but since the wind temple event, almost nothing in game is worth more than 25k each.
d. You can buy low and sell high. This works fine. It takes awhile to amass any wealth though. Generally I will buy an item that I either know is worth 100k but someone is selling for 60k and then sell it for a profit, or, I will buy up something that I can tell will soon be in short supply and hold it till its worth money. (For instance I can usually get a star staff for 15k, but they usually sell for 20k, nice healthy profit). This is risky though, as shown by the wind event. I had 20 million in items I was holding on to because the price had dropped from 110k to 80k each. These are now worth 25k each or less and the 20 million is more like 10 million now. Needless to say I am holding these items.
e. You can go to carnages. I have made over a million on my wins from carnages. I usually take surges or bloods as prizes as they sell the best, but if you do the same, there will be a glut and the price will drop. I have heard poets offering 200k for a charm since so few people take that as a carnage reward. Best bet, find out what people are saging to buy in mythic before going to a carny. I usually go into a carny with offers on which prize to bring back, people know I tend to win 50% of the carnages I am in. Again no longer as profitable since the wind event, these items now are valued at 10-25k each.
f. If you are smart enough to kill enough sheep every time you are in the wilderness to get 35 wool, 3.5k is the going price most people pay for 35 wool. I have made over a million coins this way also. I just keep putting the wool in the bank until I am over 350 and then sell by going to mythic and waiting for a sage. This is now the most profitable item in the game. 25 wool are now going for 4.5-5k. I no longer hunt the sheep fields, I hunt sheep 1 for wool now. I am keeping myself under Ilsan to stay out of sheep 2.
g. Chop some wood, its worth money. I dont know the current rate but it was 4k per 35. I made 100k in 2 days chopping wood, but they seem to have reduced the "find" rate quite a bit on wood. This has become very profitable once again. They upped the find rate on wood and it's easy to sell.
h. You can take the wool from F and go use weaving tools to make cloth, take the cloth and tailor it, and sell it back to the tailor shop. Slow but I made 50k in 8 hours this way. Now, if you specialize in tailoring and do it alot, you can eventually make sun garbs and other armor which is worth quite a bit of money. The real profit in this area is now the cloth. Cloth is selling at a high price and is always in demand.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, there are so many ways to make money that it is silly to be broke. The biggest problem people seem to have is that they take breakables into battle. I never even carried a surge till I was level 99 with 10k vita. My rule, if its breakable don't take it where it can get broken. Also, if you bring a mage and a poet with you (fighters and rogues) and take good care of em, they can keep your repair bills down.
Recently, Nexus has changed the deathpiles so that they can be picked up by anyone in your party. Good in theory, your party can retrieve your items. Bad in fact as everyone is ripping everyone off. Make sure you hunt with at least 10 open slots. Money no longer drops, but what about your clothes and weapons? Just yesterday a clan member lost everything she owned due to a deathpile thief in her group. Hunt only with those you trust fully. If you die, screenshot your party and deathpile.
