New character skills:

Three types of crafting skills are:  gathering, manufacturing, and refining.

Gathering skills: Getting raw materials.  Only ones presently available are Woodcutting (gathering wood) and mining (gathering ore).

Manufacturing skills are: Gemcutting, Smelting, Weaving.  You can be accomplished in all three, but can only specialize in one.

Gemcutting converts ambers into more expensive crafted ambers.

Smelting converts ore to metal.

Weaving converts wool to cloth.
