New character skills, Page 2:

Refining skills allow one to create useful items.  Each person can only learn one refining skill.

Tailoring: Allows you to make clothing, and with a metalworker, to make armor out of cloth.

Metalworking allows the making of metal weapons, and with a tailor, armor out of metal.

Woodworking allows you to make wooden weapons, bows, arrows, and tools needed for weaving.
