  1. INTRODUCTION (What is the DCWL)?

The Demented Creations Wrestling League is a Simulated Sports Entertainment (aka, ewrestling) environment, where we attempt to recreate the atmosphere of a real working Professional Wrestling Promotion - complete with Champions, Curtain Jerkers, Politics, House Shows, etc - The good, the bad, and the ugly sides of the Pro Wrestling Business.

The DCWL operates under the fictional banner of a Toy Company by the name of "Demented Creations", and uses that connection to enhance the realism of the game through the use of television commercials, product endorsements, and even some gimmick matches, all based on the Demented Creations brand name.

  2. BASIC STRUCTURE

    1. What is Booked eWrestling?

Refers to a type of fed where a booker or booking committee decides upon the outcome of matches. The decision is often based on quality and/or quantity of interviews and roleplaying interaction. Contrast with diced, gamed, or simmed results. (
      RSPWF FAQ, v. 2.2)

    2. Match Writing Styles

The DCWL employs two different methods of conveying its action. All action that occurs outside of the ring, as well as before or after matches, is written in a commentary-driven fashion, with narration amidst brackets. However, once the bell rings to begin a match, the action is turned over to the Action Text Block method, for ease of reading and dramatic momentum.

    3. Deciding Match Results

To fairly determine the winners of its matches, the DCWL staff individually divides 5 points between the participants, and the total score for each wrestler is added to determine a victor. The difference in score dictates the severity of defeat - for instance, if Wrestlers A and B respectively score 12-3, Wrestler A will easily dispose of his/her opponent, likely ending the match with his/her finishing hold. In addition, the DCWL Grand Champion is awarded a One-Point vote (for matches s/he is uninvolved), to add a political wild card into the decision making process.

However, some players often collaborate to pre-determine results between their wrestlers in order to progress a particular storyline or rivalry. In this instance, the scoring process above does not take place, in the interest of creative control.

  3. PARTICIPATION

    1. Wrestler Application

At this time, the DCWL is only accepting single wrestlers, and only original characters will be considered for inclusion in the DCWL roster. Currently, each player is permitted to apply with one character, but may use unlimited non-competitive characters to establish an entourage.

However, if a player wishes to compete with a second wrestler, the DCWL provides a number of Unhandled Characters (the artists formerly known as jobbers) on the active roster, of which a player can select to take control. These characters can create an element of surprise, as other players may not take an Unhandled Character as any serious threat.

    2. Roleplaying

In order to remain on the active roster of the DCWL, a player must roleplay with each wrestler a minimum of twice per month. Opportunities to broadcast roleplays will be available once per week, via the War of the Words show. In regards to content, Quality is always preferred to Quantity, which will often be reflected in match results.

    3. Strategy Form

The other significant medium of participation in the DCWL is in the Strategy Form. This submission consists of any special ring introductions (different from that submitted with application), pre or post-match interview/promo, as well as a detailed plan on how one's wrestler intends to win the match. Strategy Forms are only due for matches taking place on Total Dementia, and are typically due five days prior to the scheduled match date.

    4. Additional Participation

Players who wish to contribute to the welfare and entertainment value of the DCWL may do so in two additional ways. Firstly, by volunteering to write occasional matches for either Total Dementia or This Week in Demented Wrestling in the prescribed match writing style. Secondly, by submitting commercial product placements to be rotated on either broadcast event - which may or may not involve one's wrestler, and can be used topically to advance DCWL storylines or rivalies. Either of these two contributions do not hold equal weight to that of Roleplaying and Strategy Forms, but may serve as a tie-breaker in a tightly contested match during individual staff votes for match results.

  4. ETIQUETTE

    1. Language

In order to maintain a realistic environment, vulgar language will be limited to the same standards as any other Prime Time American television programming. Pushing the envelope is encouraged, as is finding creative ways to express a thought (ie, the F-word is strictly prohibited, but the S-word may slip by the sensors in moderation). These language guidelines apply to both Total Dementia AND War of the Words.

    2. Kayfabe

Providing a fantasy roleplaying environment is often an escape from reality for some players. It is unacceptable to exploit or embarass another player OOC (Out of Character) within the confines of a roleplay, unless otherwise agreeable to the exploited player. Repeat offenders may be subject to censorship or suspension from the DCWL.

    3. Multi-Character Roleplays

If two wrestlers of different players appear in your flash or on-card submission, approval must first be obtained from the additional player(s). Although the DCWL staff will not monitor this activity, offending players may be subject to censorship or suspension.

  5. EVENTS/BROADCASTS

    1. War of the Words

The DCWL's weekly roleplay show (aka, flash batch). The program will be the forum for one's wrestler to have the opportunity to express their thoughts, develop their character, and advance storylines and rivalries within the federation. All of these segments will be pre-recorded and will not take place in the ring the night of a live show. Typically, roleplays will be due 24 hours prior to the scheduled release date of the show.

    2. Total Dementia

The most significant wrestling series for DCWL. It will take place every other Friday, and results are determined by one's participation in both Roleplays and Strategy Forms. The show consists largely of on-card submissions and high-profile wrestling matches, fully written out with bell-to-bell action.

    3. This Week in Demented Wrestling...

Formerly a weekly highlights broadcast for the DCWL, but has been discontinued as of August, 2002.

    4. Supercards

The DCWL will hold a Supercard (aka, PPV) approximately every 3 months. These shows will be used for big time matches that will see the climax of many storylines and feuds, and possibly the beginning of new ones. Match results for Supercards are determined by the consistency of both Roleplays and Strategy Forms over a longer period of time, often as far removed as the previous Supercard event.

  6. CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES

    1. DCWL Grand Championship

Due to the fact that the DCWL primarily tours within North America, the designation of a "World" Champion is neither accurate or appropriate. Therefore, the DCWL Grand Championship is the top prize to earn within the promotion, and signifies the most prolific player in all categories - roleplaying, strategizing, politics and storytelling. As an added bonus, and a reflection of the backstage power than a top Champion often holds, the DCWL Grand Champion is awarded a One-Point vote in deciding Match Results. However, the Grand Champion is also required to defend the Championship at every major DCWL event, including Supercards and episodes of Total Dementia.

    2. Plunderweight Championship

      (a) The Plunderweight Championship will always be contested under standard Hardcore Rules, with anything goes, no disqualification, falls count anywhere stipulations. The title can only change hands on a pinfall or submission. Other stipulations can be added to these on a match-by-match basis.

      (b) Only during a sanctioned title match will the Plunderweight Championship be up for grabs. Once the final bell rings on the originally scheduled match, the title is no longer on the line.

      (c) Any wrestler signed to a DCWL contract may attempt to win the Plunderweight Championship during a scheduled title match, and is not limited to the wrestlers originally scheduled to compete.

      (d) Even if an unscheduled wrestler interferes and wins the Plunderweight Championship, the originally scheduled wrestlers MUST continue their match until one of them earns a victory over the other. Until this happens, the Plunderweight Championship is still on the line, no matter who the Champion may be.

    3. DCWL War Monger

The War Monger distinction is another unique title in the DCWL, to be contested solely on War of the Words, under the following guidelines:

      (a) A character must appear in three consecutive editions of War of the Words to qualify for a shot at the reigning War Monger. Once reaching three consecutive appearances, the consecutive count is reset to zero.

      (b) If three (or fewer) characters qualify on any given week, the War Monger title will be contested in a single match (one-on-one, triangle, or four corners).

      (c) If more than three characters qualify, a preliminary match will take place involving all qualifying wrestlers, the winner of which will advance to challenge the War Monger later in the same broadcast.

      (d) The War Monger MUST win the match to retain the distinction. Any losing decision, including disqualifications and countouts, will result in the crowning of a new War Monger.

      (e) Any draw (time limit, double countout or disqualification) will result in the vacating of the War Monger distinction, and a new War Monger will be decided the following event involving all qualifying characters.

We believe that these set of guidelines will make for a unique and exciting title to strive for, and not resulting in a less important "secondary" Championship.

    4. Future Championship Titles

As the DCWL expands its roster over time, more Championships will be introduced for competition. Most notably, a Tag Team Championship will be on the horizon once the Singles division is firmly established.
