Australian Wildlife
Part Two
You'd never guess it from watching the "Buggs Bunny and Tweety Show" but this is actually a Tasmanian Devil! Someone obviously had quite an imagination when they designed the cartoon character.
Australia has an AMAZING array of bird life. These spoon bills are quite large, yet they nest high up in trees. Among others we've seen are wild parrots, budgies, cockatoos, kookaburras (the laughing ones), galas (said to swing around and around on telephone wires!), the lyre bird and...
Penguins! As opposed to the Yellow Eyed penguins we saw in New Zealand these ones are called Little penguins or Little Blues. Glenn took us out to Phillip Island to see them come ashore one evening. They have nests in and around the obervation area there so we got to see some babies too! And, no, these penguins in the picture are not real, unfortunately. We abided by the rules and put our camera away while we watched them. So this was the next best thing!
We thought this sign was pretty funny. Something you certainly wouldn't see in Canada!
