Southern Vietnam
Part 5, My Son Ruins
Images of My Son (pronounced in the newfie way) ruins near Hoi An.  They are the remains of capital of the Champa kingdom, the arch-enemies of Angkor, which dominated the area until the 14th century, and then was finally totally overtaken by the Vietnamese in the 17th.  They were spectacular ruins, but paled in comparison to Angkor.
The restoration teams taking a long lunch break to play some cards.  It was really too hot to be moving stones around all day.
We found a huge butterfly on the way back.  We reckon it was dead because it wasn't moving.
