Southern Vietnam
Part 4, The Town of Hoi An
Hoi An has been home to Japanese and Chinese marchants throughout the the past, and have given the town a distinct architecturally enhanced feel.  This is a Japanese style bridge near the town center.
Hoi An's central market is a chaotic volcano of shouts, offers, demands and sales all covered by conical hats which buzz this way and that.
Despite tourist infringement, some people still live traditional lives.  Its still very difficult to mesh with the locals because of their feelings toward foreigners.
More market pictures.  We spent lots of time there trying to capture the atmosphere
Theres an interesting system for catching fish, but unfortunately we couldn't quite figure it out. It seemed they would drop them in the water during the day, and pull them up later.  It doesn't seem like a very good system, but hey.. it must work if they're still doing it!
