Weekend Trips
Part 3
Sept 2001
1 week in Korea
Oct 2003
1 week left in Korea
With our good friends Dennis and Dawn, we rented tandem bikes for an afternoon in Gyeongju.  Though it was nothing like our cross Canada tour will be in 2006, the day was really fun.  It was great to have them down to see our apartment in Yangsan, too.
A headstone at Tongdosa.
The stone carving at the temples
can be really impressive.

Our last scheduled long weekend in Korea was spent with our teachers.  It was a violent thumping of Korean culture, more or less enjoyable, but very memorable.
This little boy belonged to some people we hadn't met but shared his meal with us anyway.  Koreans are generally just one big family.
Breakfast.  8AM.  Boiled shellfish, rice, kimchi, the regular side dishes and an array of seafood were a little too much for our western palettes.  We had a few spoonfuls of rice and a few crackers.

Thats it, the last of our Korean weekend trips.
Its been a wild ride, and we've enjoyed ourselves immensely, but as the song goes...
Time to move on, time to get goin'...
And how Korea be complete without a picture with Mr. Kimchi, a prototype (we think) of an animation character.
