Humans:
Plug
& Play. Humans are the default species. Their many
and varied cultures are detailed in the geography section.
One thing to take into
account, however, is that the realities of life have led to the average human
from Heewanofo gaining certain advantages over
mainstream humanity, reflected by Disease and poison resistance detailed below
Note that Humans age

One of the few things
the denizens of E104 can agree on - Koblings are
terrible, deviant ugly creatures. Even the Koblings
manifest a form of racial self loathing so uncanny as to make it utterly
surprising that they aren't extinct yet. A Kobling
stands five feet tall, with long, hairy, pointed ears, large noses, heavy duty
cheekbones and an apparently unhealthy pallor. Koblings
are genetically compatible with Humanity and Bareeshi
in a similar way to that compatibility between Donkey and Horse.
Koblings often develop bitter and twisted natures,
and/or fetishes / hatred for member s of other species, and acting upon these
impulses throughout history, they have earned their evil reputation. In rare
cases, Koblings overcome their problems and may even
become civilised, cultured, balanced individuals. These “Reconstructed” Kobling are a relatively new phenomenon and seem to be
found mostly in Fubria. It is speculated that the Kobling renaissance was, after all, a limited success.
The church often uses
the acts of the Kobling as examples of evil behaviour
that a good worshipper should not emulate. As a result, it is very easy to lay all of Humanity's faults at their door too.
A good way to get on a
Priest's good side is to kill a Kobling. Such an act will also go down well with Bareeshi.

30pts
Bareeshi, depending on their (sub) racial differences
are either referred to as Halflings or Dwarves by humans.
They average four feet
tall, but weight is calculated as for a regular human. Depending upon the
individual they have often Developed either
Overconfidence, Bad temper, or Impulsiveness.
Due to an ancient myth
of Human Society, Humans not familiar with Bareeshi
culture often assume that the Bareeshi fall into
narrow stereotypes based upon ancient Human legends of the "little
people." Later, the human may modify this view to categorising them as
either amazing artisans, or amazing thieves. Bareeshi
resent this, and in fact believe themselves to be
closer to the original Human genetic template than the more numerous
"Freaks."
The sad truth is that
in societies where Humans are in positions of power, Many Bareeshi
who cannot overcome the humans' xenophobic bias toward their own artisans turn to crime either from poverty, or as Political protest.
For A Bareeshi to make a decent living as an artisan
in such a situation, he or she must indeed be exceptional, which is a
tragically rare turn of events.
Bareeshi often herd or ride examples of a Herbivorous ruminant species called Bhrughu.
This Six-legged, Trefoil-hooved, wickedly horned yet
normally placid beast fulfils the role of Pack/Riding animal, and source of
Dairy, meat and leather products. It is said that a Bareeshi supplied with a mated pair of Brughu
and sufficient grazing/watering rights, will never go cold or hungry, nor have
a need to seek a livelihood.
Most Bareeshi hold to a Code of honour - whilst the "old
ways" dictate that this be chivalric, Regular's, or gentleman's, in these
dark times, the Pirate's, Highwayman's, Mercenary's or Assassin's are just as
common, if not more so.
The Human church seldom mention that when the Church's missionaries
first sought to convert the Bareeshi, it was by force
of arms. They almost never add that the Bareeshi
knights romped all over them. A few Bareeshi remember
well, though, and these are the ones who are most tolerant of Wizards.
Should a Bareeshi succeed in the Tests of Wizardry, they learn that
the Bareeshi species has certain further aptitudes.
Bareeshi are almost all genocidally
intolerant of Bar-Koblings, with the result that Bar-Koblings are so rare that no points are granted.
For a more detailed
exploration of Bareeshi society, see: Narrator’s
File: The Bareeshi Lands from Page 15 to 21.

Pointed ears, prominent
cheekbones, the works. Half-Ael
are often confused in bad light for a good looking
human. Half-Ael are extremely rare, and their true
parentage is unknown, and only surmised from their appearance. In the entire
history of E104, there have been five recorded cases, all of whom were
foundlings. These notes are conjecture based upon what is known about those
individuals. Half Ael cannot have the Heir advantage,
unless the "Parent" is also a patron whom costs double points.
Half-AEL have a disadvantage referred to here as “Mysterious Origin.”

Offspring of Bareeshi and Human parents sometimes occur, most often in Kalabad (although the phenomenon is rare enough even
there). The traits an individual will
inherit from the Bareeshi parent are unpredictable,
thus a Part-Bareeshi may pass for a tall pureblood Bareeshi in a crowd, whilst his sister is mistaken to be a
pureblood Human. Those who recognize the
character as a Part-Bareeshi will usually react
unfavourably for a variety of reasons.
It has been known for
Part-Bareeshi to be born without the usual Heewanofo poison and disease resistance.
Should a Part - Bareeshi succeed in the Tests of Wizardry, they may learn
that they have certain further aptitudes.

Half Bareeshi, half Kobling, all Ugly.
Bareeshi find these to be an abomination, and tend to
kill them on sight. As a result, Bar-Kob will only
reach adulthood (9) outside of Bareeshi settlements.
Bar-Kob are rare indeed.
They have the same Rep with Humans as regular Koblings,
but as they tend to hide from non Koblings, and very
few Bareeshi actually know what a Bar-Kob looks like, this rarely comes into play unless the Bar-Kob is dumb enough to announce itself.
Should a Bar-Kob succeed in the Tests of Wizardry, they may learn that
they have certain further aptitudes.

Half Human, half Kobling. Out of the Kobling
races, these guys get the better deal, as they can interact with Human society
with relatively little chance of being killed out of hand. "Hobs"
appearance can even occasionally be enhanced by their heritage, in which
eventuality, the pointed ears and prominent cheekbones result in people
confusing them in bad light for a less than handsome, hairy Ael,
or perhaps a good looking human. Some of these lucky individuals are mistaken
for Half-Ael (QV)
