Visited Robert and Elnora Hobbs in their home on Rock Springs Road in July 2006.
I got a look at the
Hobbs Family Bible which is in their possession.  I took pictures which didn't completely turn out that well on most of them.  The bible was printed in 1852 which tells me that Nancy Jones Hobbs or her husband Robert H Hobbs began the bible.

Sam didn't believe in paying taxes.  He worked as a Painter and worked enough to support his family but that was it.  He had a stubborn streak in him as well, if someone pushed to hurry him, he would just walk away and maybe come back in his own good time.

Sam raised Bea's boys and had no children of his own.  He took in his sister Annie and her family in the depression times.  He was the only one working then as a Painter.  My father was  small child in his household.

Robert said he was a good painter, he was one of those that didn't need to put down a tarp or papers to keep from getting paint all over, he used his brush and a bucket.  No paint got all over and it was a good quality job.
A Funeral Card was found in the family trunk that is in possession of Robert J Hobbs in Lamar, GA - someone wrote on the back:
Sam Hobbs born Sep 6, 1904 died Oct 30, 1959
was buried Nov 1, 1959 was taken sick Oct 26, 1959

The funeral card was put in your car and it told you to:
Please turn headlights on
Please drive close to car ahead
Aunt Bea Hobbs was married twice.  The 2nd time to Sam Hobbs.  The first I found the announcement in the Atlanta Constitution:

Sept 7, 1913 on pg 4
