Derek's 1997 Jeep XJ

Chicago Jeep Run

Some guys from Chicago got together for a little fun at the Badlands. We ran orange and green trails, and ended up getting pretty muddy :-) Most of the following pictures are from the orange trail, which has a lot of off camber tree lined sections which leave very little room to navigate. There are also some steep sections with lots of roots and rocks. This makes it very important to pick the correct line.

Here is a group shot in the woods at the Badlands Off Road Park.

This is "Ritalin" in his Red YJ. He makes an easy ride through Orange Trail.

Here "Locker Boy" navigates the Orange Trail. "Locker Boy" has a factory installed Trac-Loc, and he is very happy with how it performs on the trail.

Tom is making his way between two large trees as he approaches an off camber section of trail. Tom suffered a little body damage on the orange trail, but he took it all in stride and really did well on the trails. It was his first time on the orange trail, and he did a lot better than I did the first time I ran it.

The only picture I have from the green trail this day actually came from "Locker Boy". Green trail is full of mud holes, some of which are getting pretty deep. I made my way through this mud hole without any problems, but it sure was a good thing I had the snorkel. Otherwise I would have come close to getting the air box underneath the water and hydrolocking my engine. Thanks again to "Locker Boy" for taking this picture!
