| The Gentle Soul He wonders often what it is That makes her want to stay What does she see that others can't -For others turned away. No, it can't be wealth or status He's but a simple man And the dreams of youth have vanished -Yes, every single plan. He never thought that looks were his -She tends to disagree And he could be more romantic -But sure, he tries to be. And his hair once fine and golden Is turning thin and gray And the strength of youth is waning -And more each passing day. Then he asks her one day plainly, "Just why do you still care?" She just looks at him and smiles, "I've found a treasure, rare." A gentle soul won't fade away It's as the purest gold For it won't decay or tarnish -And never shall grow old.
