| The rolling rhythm of the sea Still sings its soothing harmony Upon the rocks crescendos crash Creating sprays that gently splash. The briny air chimes that I'm home Beside the ebb and flow of foam Along the endless stretch of shore It saturates fills every pore. The seagulls soar so gracefully Above a sun-flecked tapesty Of undulating gray and blue From days of old yet always new. The sanderlings dash to and fro Delightful is their feathered show As with the ocean they play tag In hopes a tasty meal to snag. We stroll the shoreline's velvet sand Enjoying, sharing, hand in hand So far removed from churing strife That is the bane of city life. Perhaps one day right here we'll stay Between the ocean and the bay. Copyright 3/17/00 Denise Corbley Snyder |
