So how do we start to create a garden? You start with a blank canvass and write down your must haves. Following a simple guide line:

Concepts for the client to consider.

1). Views from the house
2). Open or clear vistas.
3). A place or places to sit, eat and entertain.
4) Places of year round interest.
5). Sun and shade areas. Which direction faces south and which direction does the wind come from?
6). Protection in the garden. Privacy from the neighbours, diffusion of the wind.
7). The aesthetic look to the house. A well designed and functional garden can add at least 10% to the value of the property.
8). Produce from the garden.
9). Important garden buildings. Is there a shed, greenhouse or plastic tunnel? Where do I store my garden machinery, planting materials, pots and furniture?
10). What kind of plants do I like? What kind of colours do I want or not want in the garden. Do I want trees? How tall?
11). What kind of watering system do I need? Is a water supply a problem? Do I have a well as a free source of water?
12). Would a water feature add to the tranquility and diversity of the garden.
13). Are we concerned with wild life? Which plants, shrubs and trees attract beneficial insects, bees and butterflies? What can we plant to ward off the nasties.
14). Is this my permanent home or primarily a holiday rental?
15). How much are we prepared to spent on the garden. What is out budget. ( normally 10% of the purchase price ).

When all these factors have been take into account a picture begins to immerge. Then we as the professional have to interpret your concept into a practical scheme to fit your budget.

THE FACTORS THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE INTO CONSIDEATION AS THE DESIGNERS AND CONSTRUCTORS.
a). The need to understand the scientific factors and growth materials which effects plant establishment and growth in your area and garden.
b). The need to identify and utilise a good range of plant material including trees, shrubs, climbing plants ground cover, herbaceous plants, bamboos, grasses, ferns and half hardy plants.
c). The ability to survey a site and draw up the necessary plans.
d). The ability to design and construct hard landscaping forms.
e). A working knowledge of the history of garden design and the implementation of it.
f). The ability to analyse a site both aesthetically, functionally and environmentally.
g). The ability to formulate and justify design proposals for private individuals.
