The organization of the crew in the LDS unit is somewhat different than the model plan. The crew president is selected by the Bishop, rather than by a direct vote. In a similar way, I expect that other crew officers that would normally be elected might be determined through assignment. The overlap of the crew and the priests quorum also adds some further dynamics. In addition to a crew advisor, who is also a quorum advisor, the bishop is president of the quorum, and may wish to have a more direct role in leading the crew.
