My LDS Scouting and Aaronic Priesthood Page
Hi, I'm Brian Walton, and I've been working (directly or indirectly) with young men in the Aaronic
Priesthood and Scouting programs for nearly the last ten years. Now, that
certainly hasn't been that long a time, yet. However, it has been long
enough for me to learn that the Young Men programs often lack vision and organization.
This web-site is being developed in order to try to address some of
the needs that I wish I had had access to when I first started. If you have
questions about dealing with the YM organization, I hope that this helps
answer some of your questions.
What to find:
-
My philosophy and opinion of how/why Scouting is an effective program for Aaronic Priesthood quorums.
-
How to plan -- a hypothetical perspective, which I'm trying to implement,
with varying degrees of success.
-
Activity Ideas -- a growing list of
ideas I've tried, seen, heard about or thought about. Do you have some
to add?
-
Venturing -- a collection of pages describing my perceptions about Venturing for Priests Quorums.
You can also download the complete document as a
PDF file.
Here are some LDS Church articles that I find particularly helpful.
- S. Dilworth Young, "Scouters: Lead Them to a Mission," Ensign, May 1975, 98.
- Victor L. Brown, "The Vision of the Aaronic Priesthood," Ensign, Nov. 1975, 66.
- Robert L. Backman, "Revitalizing Aaronic Priesthood Quorums," Ensign, Nov. 1982, 38.
- Keith B. McMullin, "Behold the Man," Ensign, Nov. 1997, 40
What did you want to find? Was it here? I'm always
interested in learning what others are struggling with, and maybe we can
find ways to deal with them. Send me e-mail at [email protected]
in order to ask your questions, give your feedback, or complain that I
stole your idea.
