Greetings. My name is Brian Walton. You've reached my personal web space. Anything you find on this site represents my personal opinion. I hope you find it interesting.
I live in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where I teach mathematics at James Madison University. I earned a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from The University of Arizona. My particular interests are in the applications of mathematics in biology. For more information about my academic career, I will refer you to my school website.
One of my favorite subjects is Scouting. In the past, I have been a Cubmaster, a Varsity Scout Team Coach and a Venturing Crew Advisor. My experience in Scouting is also focused on its implementation in units chartered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am in the process of developing a resource based on my perspective. It takes the form of a blog on Yahoo 360 I grew up in Utah as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served a two-year proselyting mission in the state of Montana in the early 1990s. I am still very active in this church. Deeply personal, religious experiences have convinced me that God, our Heavenly Father, is a real, personal being and that He has prepared a plan of happiness and salvation for His children (the human family), with the redemption and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the central point of this plan. I also believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a divine restoration of the church that Jesus Christ established through his apostles in the meridian of times, and that the richest blessings of the plan of salvation, including the opportunity for eternally bound family relationships, are only available through the ordinances in this church. I recognize that this is a bold declaration. Yet it is what I believe. If you would like to learn more about this church, please visit www.mormon.org. At some point, I'd like to add some more of my personal views as well.
My dad is a genealogy guru, and he's even started his own family history consulting service, Ansearching. I really enjoy hearing him tell about some of the amazing stories of his finding various odd tidbits of knowledge about families. For our own family, he helped discover quite a few curious tidbits and then was a co-author of a book about the Walton-Price family line.
