| 9/28/03 We woke up this morning at my parents house. It had been so rough getting used to the hot weather in Palm Springs. We were alternately hot and cold during the night but I did get some good sleep when we changed around in the room and I woke up around 9:00. I had coffee and got up real slow. Kim started working on our camper and getting things ready to go. My parents went out for breakfast and I showered and got ready. When my parents came back my Mom and I walked the dogs in the field. It was so hot out but the dogs really enjoyed running off leash and the hills of Palm Springs were looming in the distance. I was so tired when I came back I decided to take a nap and Ginger curled up in my arms. While I was so cold last night in the air conditioning, Ginger kept me toasty warm in the afternoon and Sammy stayed at the foot of the bed. I felt very loved as I fell fast asleep. When I woke up it was time to go visit Uncle Bob and Aunt Vivian. We loaded up the camper and headed out following my Mom and Dad. We went down I-10 and saw a mountain full of windmills turning in the wind. |
| We saw a brush fire and also a really scary sight of an older truck that had caught completely on fire and a fire truck came zooming up behind us. We were a ways away but you could feel the full brunt of the heat through the window. We continued to follow my parents through Yucaipa and made it to my aunt and uncle�s. Their house is on a busy road with blind corners and it was so scary bringing the truck and trailer into the driveway. My stomach was a complete mess after watching Kim turn the truck around and she did it masterfully. Kim was fine but I was a bunch of frazzled nerves and I wasn�t even driving. |
| We had pizza and then cake and ice cream. I found out Aunt Vivian has a birthday on Sept 24th right around mine. After dinner we went for a walk and Kim got out her trike. She went down the busy hill to the trail and I heard from an outside source (my dad) that she went really fast! Kim says that she didn�t go that fast. : ) It was a beautiful evening and cool. The sun was setting in the haze and fire and was a beautiful red over the hills in full circle and it slowly set. There was just a sliver of a moon in the sky. We walked the dogs and they were so excited to see Kim that they wanted to run over to her. We headed back soon and went back into the house for the evening. Aunt Vivian and Uncle Bob have a beautiful back yard with a stream that trickles through the back yard. A huge spider worked diligently on getting his web built for the evening and a great horned owl spoke in low tones in the evening. |
| Once inside I got out my harp and it was so much fun playing and listening to other�s play. It has developed a beautiful sound as it has aged and I bet it will keep getting better. Aunt Vivian played the piano and it was just gorgeous! We even heard from Cheryl who called in the evening. It was great to hear from her. Soon it was time to go to sleep and my Mom and Dad headed out and we were soon back in our camper in the cool evening. It had been a good day being with family. |
