Constitution

ARTICLE I title, purpose, & goal

-The name of this organized club is �Anime Club'.

-The purpose of the club is to promote, admire, recognize, and seek the wonders of Japanese animation that is currently in the United States.

-The ultimate goal is to encourage members to go on their independent trips to Anime Expo (a convention held at a different location every year during summer vacation) and to develop an appreciation for anime overall.

ARTICLE II membership

-requirement to be a member: anyone in this school who pays a $3 or $6 entry

-$3 package: the person gains membership into the club

-$6 package: the person gains membership into the club, attains a scrapbook near the end of the school year

-Officers already in the club must pay $5 and receive everything that the regular membership offers except for the raffle ticket

-These fees are to be collected by the current club treasurer and put in the cash box

-This club does not use the point system; therefore, no points are rewarded to members whom do community service or participate in certain activities. However, these opportunities can be verified as points for other clubs.

-Membership and privileges of this club will always submit to the policies of the school and the USB.

ARTICLE III officers

-The current officers of this club are:

-The officers' duties are:

•  president and vice-president ?must cooperate and commune frequently with each other about the club; at least one must attend and preside all types of meetings; appoint when meetings are to be held; announce the plans of meetings; during officer meetings, declare what, when, and why activities are to take place and what jobs each officer will have; both must have the final word of approving club requests or activities; revise club constitution yearly; editors-in-chief for the newsletter; issues which columns of the newsletters will be done by which officers; objectively judge which anime to watch for each month's feature anime; keep relations with, know the updates of, and attend meetings held by the sponsor (currently Vince Sam, owner of Orbit)

•  secretary ?takes down notes of all officer meetings; provides agendas, rosters, and memberships to members (including how much each member has paid for membership drive); keeps the attendance of all types of meetings and activities; responsible for all recordings and documents held by the club; provides sign-in sheet in meetings and takes attendance of all meetings; issues monthly calendars to all officers; prepares documents/ activity requests for the final approval of the presidents; makes copies of the members' drawings; tallies the officer's votes of which titles of anime to watch; sends anything that needs copying to an advisor

•  treasurer ?provides a monthly report of receipts, expenditures, and funds; finds the prices of expenditures and materials needed for an activity; reports any donations made to the club; announces what materials are needed for each activity

•  publicity ?provide the proper materials needed to commune with and give announcements to members (posters, flyers, bulletin announcements, etc?, and must know that a picture of the month's feature anime must be on the posters (drawn), flyers (taken from Internet or drawn), newsletters (taken from Internet), etc? must have all flyers signed by an advisor; acquire board members if further assistance is needed

•  IOC representative ?obligated to attend all IOC meetings and inform the officers during the next officer meeting of events discussed in IOC meetings; informs the club regularly about current USB activities involving the school and the club

•  technician ?provides the tapes of desired anime in forms of VHS (video tape), VCD (computer CD), or DVD (I hope you know); locates needed materials for both video meetings and game meetings; provides the theme song to the month's feature anime; in-charge of club website and is required to update the website often

•  board members ?assist in work needing physical labor such as drawing, going to a place with anime materials, etc?

ARTICLE IV officer elections

-current club members and/or current club officers can be nominated to an officer position by the current officers of the club after they have submitted their application

-these nominees are then interviewed by the advisor and the current club officers not applying, and will then narrow the candidates down to 2 people per office of president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, historian, and IOC representative

-however, there must be at least 2 people for the positions of board member and publicity

-members of the club then vote to decide which of the candidates shall be the new officer

-the weight of each of these groups' votes is 1/3 of the total 100% of the final decision on officer position: advisor, current club officers, members

ARITCLE V meetings

-there are types of meetings: general, video screening, and officer

-all the officers of the club are to meet on their own on every Monday in an advisor's room during lunch, unless otherwise stated by the presidents

-if other meetings of the officers are needed, the presidents will announce them

-all officers must attend every officer, general, and video meeting or else the officer absent will get a strike; 3 strikes means the officer is not a responsible person and is to be discharged from his position as an officer

-if an officer has a reasonable explanation not to go to any meeting, then he must ask one of the presidents whether he may take leave of the meeting at least a day in advance

-general meetings of the members are to be held on the first Friday of every month at least once every month, during lunch period, unless stated by the club presidents otherwise

-if the presidents are to be absent at meetings, then the meeting will not be held

-during general meetings, the raffle drawings for prizes are held

ARTICLE VI feature anime

-monthly there is to be a different anime featured in the newsletter and videos watched

-anime is to be chosen by the board on what is deemed appropriate for the month

-new anime freshly released from Japan or ones that members have never seen before are highly encouraged

ARTICLE VII raffle drawings

-these are to be held on every general meeting

-raffle tickets are obtained based on attendance (the more meetings attended, the more raffle tickets accumulated) and from donated fan art

-officers are ineligible in this event

-the prizes that the raffle drawings offer are obtained from donations or by the use of club money, from the club's sponsor (Orbit), or from any place that sells anime (including the yearly Anime Expo)

-every time there is a raffle drawing, there must be a variety of 5 prizes from which the winner will choose from

-steps taken during a general meeting:

•  a raffle ticket is hand chosen by the president from a box full of raffle tickets

•  the # of that ticket is read aloud

•  the holder of that particular ticket will go up to the president and prove that he indeed has that # raffle ticket

ARTICLE VIII scrapbook

-these are given out to only the officers and the members of the club

-contains all the drawings collected from 1 school year, which are put together near the end of the school year

-before the making of the scrapbook, the members' drawings are contained in a folder and placed in the care of either the advisor or the secretary

-the original drawings of the members are not to be used, only copies

-the secretary must make a black and white copy and a color copy if the picture is in color, and just a black and white copy if the picture is in black and white (such as pencil or pen)

-members, who did not receive the scrapbook from the $6 membership package, must buy the scrapbook when they are finished and available near the end of the year (prices vary yearly according to the number of drawings in the scrapbook)


ARTICLE VIIII newsletter

-passed out to members monthly during general meetings

-officers must work together to construct a newsletter (many officers may work on a section of their own, and then all sections may be put together by 1 officer via e-mail or by other means)

-has the following sections:

•  title of newsletter

•  date

•  updates of Anime Expo

•  updates of the club and its activities

•  interesting facts about some anime or Japan

•  learn Japanese

•  summary of the month's feature anime

•  in the middle of newsletter: picture of the month's feature anime ( EXAMPLE -the main character of the anime)

•  a reference section of the phone numbers that officers are willing to display to the members, e-mail addresses of all the officers, who are/is the advisor(s) for the club and what their/his room number is in the school, the club's sponsor (currently Orbit), and information packed websites (such as anime-expo.org and anipike.com )

•  on the other side (back side) of newsletter: 1 member's drawing that's chosen by the officers (every month must show a different member's drawing)

•  other articles can be added as deemed fit

ARTICLE X video shows

-the video must be an anime or about anime

-the videos must be either subbed (with subtitles or captions translating) English or dubbed (with characters speaking another language) English

-for a more direct translation, subbed videos are better

-only officers and members of the club may attend the showings

-from the ratings, the video should be in the range of G to PG-13

-video showings are to be held at the minimum of 3 times a month, during lunch at a room in school with a television

-each showing should last at least 30 minutes of lunch time

-the location of the show is wherever is approved by the school, USB, advisor, and (if asked) the band director (the person responsible for the band room); examples of places for showing are: in an advisor's room, the band room, or the Golden Horseshoe

-if another room and/or tv is needed to view the videos, then an officer of the club must ask the owner (a teacher most likely) of the room and/or the tv for permission to use it

-if the video is to be shown in an advisor's room that does not have a tv, then the equipment needed for such is to be requested from the LINC

-feature anime must be approved by advisor

-this inspection of a video is mandatory: there may not be nudity, lavish amounts of blood ( EXAMPLE - blood pours out from each move made by characters/ some blood is acceptable), nor huge amounts of profanity ( EXAMPLE - talk of body parts or �bad words?is heard repeatedly/ such inevitable talk is allowed only in small quantities)

ARTICLE XI amendments

-if there are to be amendments made to this document, then at least ¾ of all officers must agree to them, and the amendments will be read aloud at the next general and/or officer meeting

ARTICLE XII adoption of a new constitution

-this constitution will be immediately enforced when at least ¾ of all the officers of the club agree to it, the advisor(s) sign(s) it, and the USB of the school accepts it
