Coach Mike Swan had 4 sons come through the Wayland
Area Wrestling Club (WAWC) and Wayland-Cohocton
interscholastic wrestling programs. Chris, Mike, Andy and Pat all
wrestled with distinction in the programs. Mike became involved
in 1982 and coached in the WAWC for 15 years. Mike received
his highschool coaching certification in 1986. He was Jv or
varsity assistant or varsity coach from 1990 to 2000. Mike
was a primary force behind the Wayland-Cohocton wrestling
success in the 1990's. He has been involved in Wayland-Cohocton
wrestling in one facet or another either as a coach, booster club officer,
tournament director or varsity advisor. Mike helped establish the
Wayland Youth Wrestling Tournament as a premier Tournament in
Western New York and continues his support for Youth Wrestling
today. Mike was a very popular coach with wrestlers and parents
alike as they all knew he truly cared about the kids.With the help
and support of Wife Coleen, Mike was a fixture in
Wayland-Cohocton wrestling for over 19 years.
