Traditionally, the Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony is held after the wedding ceremony. The bride and the groom serve tea to their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They do this for three reasons:
1. The couple is able to show respect and honour to their parents.
2. The ceremony signifies the changed relationship between the couple and their parents because the newlyweds are now considered a daughter and a son to both families.
3. The ceremony gives the parents the opportunity to welcome the newlyweds into their respective families.
The ceremony will be held at the bride's parents' humble abode, on Sunday 23 February 2003 - the day following the Church service and reception. There the couple will be offering tea to their parents and close relatives to show respect and honour.
