Darren on the other hand got a little jealous by all the articles in magazines that had all these pictures of Elisa. He knew that there were a lot of guys out there who had posters of HIS GIRL over their bed. But he shook this thought out of his head. He was the one she came home to. The one she called. The one who held her when she was sleeping.
Nic and Elisa were invited to the Rosie show. And Darren and Daniel watched the program in their hotelroom. The video was finished an already released, but they had some album promoting to do, and Darren hadn`t seen Elisa in 3 weeks. They had talked on the phone almost every day. It was weird that when he finally got to see her it would be on the tv-screen.
"What th....?" Darren stared in amazement
"Oh wow...!" Daniel`s mouth dropped down on the floor.
Darren hadn`t seen this Elisa before. This wasn`t the girl he knew. Both girls were dressed in black leather. Nicole had a jacket, and Elisa had just a top. She was very sexy. And she had this aura of self-confidence that he hadn`t seen in her before. His heart ached when Rosie asked them about boyfriends. It was ok that she answered that she was single, but did she have to flirt with the camera the way she did? Did she have to be so seductive?
Daniel could tell that this was actually bothering Darren.
"Darren?"
"Yeah!" Darren sounded angry
"Don`t be angry at her when you speak to her."
"Why would I be angry?" Darren asked slightly sarcastic
"You know....you do the same thing when you have cameras around!"
Darren thought about this for a minute. "Yeah, you`re right Dan. I do don`t I? It`s just that I`ve missed her so much, and all the magazines and then the tv......I just wanted to have her all to myself you know?" Darren stroke a hand through his hair. Slightly frustrated. Daniel looked at him and felt a little sorry for him. "Noone told you that it would be easy you know." And he walked out of the room, leaving Darren to his thoughts.
"Yeah, this is Nicole!" Daniel called her as soon as he got to his room.
"Hi it`s Daniel. I saw your show, you were good."
"Dan? Oh thank you. We are starting to get use to cameras now. How are you doing?" Nic were a little surprised by him calling her.
"Ahh...actually I have to warn you."
"Warn me?" Nic didn`t get a good wibe from Daniel`s voice
"Darren and I watched the show right? And he is really jealous.... Now I tried to talk to him and I think that I got through to him, but just in case....can you talk to Elisa?"
"Why am I not surprised? Ahh...I knew this were coming. What should I say to her?"
Nicole didn`t like this at all. Daniel sighed."Just tell her to go easy on him. I told him the same thing, and hopefully he listened. But you know Darren"
"And I know Elisa. Two strong minded people. I`ll talk to her Dan. But I still know that sooner or later one of them is getting hurt."
"Not one of them" Dan paused "Both are getting hurt"
Nic hung up and went to look for Elisa. She found her in front of the phone. Just staring at it.
"What`s wrong Elisa?" Nic sat down beside her
"I don`t know Nic. I just have this strange feeling........I promised to call Darren, but something is holding me back" Elisa`s voice cracked
"Hey Elisa. You know Darren. The love of your life..remember? He`s probably waiting for you to call right now. It`s normal that you start to feel like you don`t know him when you haven`t seen him in a while."
"It wasn`t this hard last time..?" Elisa looked at Nicole. Nicole tried to put on a smile. "Well, this was all new and exiting then. Now you are settled in his house, that`s like a commitment. You are going through changes now Elisa. And it`s difficult when Darren can`t be here with you. He probably have a hard time too."
Elisa looked at her, and then she picked up the phone and dialed Darren`s number. Nicole walked out of the room. It was up to them now.
"Darren? It`s Elisa." Darren cleared his throat.
"Hi hon. How are you?" Darren asked quiet
"I`m fine...but I miss you so......" Elisa started sobbing. When Darren heard this, he couldn`t hold back anymore. He started to cry to, but he tried to pull together. "I saw you on tv tonight!"
"How was I, was it alright?"
Darren could hear she was insecure. And he realized that she was still the same girl who blushed when he teased her. Maybe she had changed a little, but some things just don`t change. "Yeah...you were great love."
"When will I see you again Darren?" Elisa`s voice trembled
"I`ll be home next week some time, what about you?" Darren`s voice cracked again.
"We arrive friday." Elisa could hear Darren was crying, and it was to much for her.
"Darren?"
"mmm...?"
"I love you....." Elisa cried so hard she almost couldn`t breathe.".....so much.."
The week was slow, almost unbearable. All they could think about was when they would see eachother again. Darren`s plain landed on thursday. Daniel went home to Australia for a week. He promised to send Darren the melody to the song he had written. The title was "Hold me". As soon as he could. The lyrics were so honest Daniel thought, that they would have to be on their album. But they had little time doing it.
Leonie went to her sister on a weeks vacation. Darren and Elisa had much to talk about, and make up for.
Darren couldn`t meet her at the airport. Then the press would find out. So Jack picked the girls up. Her heart beat fast when she walked up the stairs to the house. She opened the door and carefully stepped inside. "Hello? Anyone here?"
She heard a thump from the 2nd floor. Darren came racing down. He stopped right in front of her. "You`re here.....you are really here!" Darren reached out a hand and touched her hair. As if he couldn`t believe his eyes. When he had made sure she wasn`t just a figment of his imagination he lifted her up and twirled her around. They switched between laughter and tears.
Elisa watched Darren`s face as he was sleeping that night. She felt the warmth of his breath against her face. She smelled his aftershave. She didn`t want to fall asleep, knowing that there would come times that they were separated again.
"See anything you like?" Darren opened his eyes and giggled
"No! I was just thinking that you need a haircut. You look old......"Elisa looked innocent at him
"I have never......" Darren turned his back to her and Elisa giggled. Darren turned around again, and Elisa cuddled up with her head on his chest. She had almost fallen asleep...
"Elisa?" Darren whispered
"mmm.....?"
"Do you think I look old?"
Elisa laughed. Darren pulled her hair. "No, you don`t have to answer. I know I look great!" He kissed her fingers. "And I know you love me!"
"Yeah I do...and you love me?" Darren heard the question in her voice. "Don`t you ever doubt that. You are my everything!"
When Elisa woke up and went downstairs she could hear music, and Darren was singing a song she`d never heard before. "..........I might need you to hold me tonight......I might need you to say it`s alright.." Elisa smiled and walked to where the sound were coming from. ".......tonight I`m finding it hard to be your man..."
She stopped, Darren`s voice contained so much pain, and she realized he was singing about their relationship. She got sad. The song was so true, it was exactly the way she had felt when she was away from him, and obviously he felt the same.
Darren felt sorrow to when he sang. "I`m so afraid of loosing her" He thought. And while he sang it felt like he was all alone again. He finished and sat down to e-mail Dan. He send it, and got up to wake Elisa. When he turned around he saw her standing in the doorway. On the expression on her face he understood that she had heard the song, and that she felt the same pain he did.
He walked up to her and without saying anything they held eachother a long time.
