A little bit about Yoga and Dawn's background...

Yoga means "union", and it encompasses a variety of practices that are meant to lead to the singular goal of union with God/the Divine/Higher Power and/or being connected to one's highest Self/Center/Essence.  Many, however, practice yoga simply for the many wonderful side benefits which include greater physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Yoga is effective for stress-management and relaxation.  It is also very helpful for re-integrating body-mind disconnections.  Reconnecting  with one's mind/body/spirit leads to significant life changes, healing, increased awareness and compassion, and greater wholeness, harmony and balance.

For those interested in a more yogic-based therapy, Dawn offers Home Group Yoga Sessions (see above), and Private Yoga Sessions.  These sessions include asana (posture), pranayama (breath work), dhyana (meditation), visualization, and savasana (deep relaxation).

As a
certified yoga instructor (12 years experience), Dawn is qualified to assess your condition and modify the practice accordingly.  In her home studio, she teaches a gentle and restorative form of yoga.  Most importantly, she works with where you are at, and with what you are comfortable with.  Yoga is much more than asana (posture) practice, and contrary to popular belief, yoga is not primarily about fitness and flexibility.  Dawn is often asked what style of yoga she teaches - this is a difficult question!  Through formal training, workshops, and on-going professional development, she has been influenced by Ashtanga, Hatha, Yin, Kundalini, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, and Prana Yoga.  Some of the amazing teachers she has had the priviledge of attending training and workshops with are Sarah Powers, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Shiva Rea, Beryl Bender Birch, and Michael Lee.

An integration of gentle yoga postures, breath-work,
meditation, guided visualization and relaxation.


Classes are held in a warm, ventilated, comfortable, clean, and relaxing home studio.  Herbal tea is offered at the end of each session, and all yoga supplies are provided (feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer).
