| Prayer Shawl 1998 "Puffin Foundation" Grant Recipient 'Tis the victims of violence, those who'd never choose to fight, those who'd dream and play: For these I wove the shawl for these I pray. The children, their mothers. I choose to use red beads to signify both life in the blood and the sacrifice. Both sides of the shawl near the top have two candles... Signifying the need for all to let their lights shine. Women and children are woven into the shawl. Some on their knees, some in song, children in a cradle, in a boat, and a silver spoon added to signify the need for feeding. The end of the shawl carries hearts and fish a reminder to feed not only the body but the heart also. |
