Without hurry, Vallory mucked out the weyr again. Hiferth lay his blue head down, and his eyes whirled greeny blue.

"Oh shut up you. You're supposed to be doing this between by now..."

We aren't between. We're in the weyr.

"I KNOW! You sharded wherry! Let your tail fill up and then 'go'!"

But my tail should be slender like this! He waved it, and Vallory stared at him from over the broom.

"HIferth, you dimglow... I would compare you to a tunnel snake but it would make the snake look bad."

Oh! Oh! I'm offended! You wound me, my rider. And here I devote myself to you! All my love! And here you hate me!

"I do not," Vallory swept again, punctuating her motion with her voice. "I don't hate you, but you MUST learn to control this. I won't go into threadfall with a dragon who can't properly 'go!'"

Mallory snickered at her sister from the edge of their large, shared weyr.

"He's still not up to snuff, is he?" She said, and her red-haired sister growled.

"Go away. Or get a broom. Either way."

Mallory leaned against her own blue dragon, twin to Hiferth. "I'll just watch."

"You do that." Vallory said. "Karth isn't nearly as talented in the air as Hiferth is."

Now she wounds my brother! Hiferth said, humor tainting his mind.

She is vicious today! Added his blue brother, Karth. And she is wrong, too! I am so just as good in the air as you.

Are not, Hiferth bespoke, his eyes turning darker red.

"Here they go again," Mallory said, almost eager to see the dragons argue. They had never heard of such vocal, noisesome dragons! Nor had their neighbors, who stopped in whenever Hiferth and Karth were spatting. Today was no exception.

"What is it this time?" Asked one.

"Who's best in the air." Vallory said, finishing up her mucking.

"That's easy," the other observer said, "That would be my Aroanth."

He beat feet out of there...
