Welcome to SWG!
This page is currently being developed by the Silmarillion Writers' Guild as a fiction archive and forum for authors and readers of Silmarillion fan fiction as well as persons interested in Tolkien's universe . Likely, if you have found this beta page, you are already a member of SWG. In that case, feel free to look around and let me know what you think of our page so far. If you are not an SWG member, please do not hesitate to join our group. This is an exciting time for SWG. Less than a year old, we are in the formative stage that many other Tolkien archives have long passed. That means that your input is valuable and needed! So if you have ideas you want to share or if you simply wish to discuss The Silmarillion and writing with other like-minded and enthusiastic people, please do not hesitate to sign up!
Right now, our group remains small. With less than fifty members on the Yahoo! side of our organization, we have a lot to of work distributed among few people. So while progress may be slow, I encourage interested persons to check back often for updates or to sign up for our group to keep atop the latest news and updates.
Currently, SWG is headed in several directions. First is our archive. As the crux of our site, it will be only Silmarillion-only archive currently in existence and will accept fiction, poetry, and non-fiction from all authors. Second comes our forum, where writers and fans alike of J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology can meet to discuss the book, participate in writers' workshops, and share stories and recommendations. Lastly is our reference section, where we will compile a variety of resources on The Silmarillion, writing, and the Tolkien fandom at large.
My hopes in forming SWG were to create a friendly online home for authors and fans of The Silmarillion. I welcome you to join us in recognizing this goal! Please feel free to peruse our site, sign up for our discussion and story-sharing groups, and most of all, have fun!
If you experience any problems with this site, please let me know about them. If the site formating appears strangely, please let me know the browser you are using, the version, and a specific description of what is wrong. If you find a broken link, please let me know. I have tested the site on updated versions of both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, so I am interested also in the experiences other browser users have when using this site. Please send feedback to DawnFelagund@comcast.net. Thank you!
