| 4-28 Wow, and I thought senioritis in high school was bad. I am very ready for a nice long break from all this work. This week has been very easy and quite fun compared to the last several, but dont let that fool you: I am still working my bitushki off here. Monday morning I trekked over to Waters to take that Polysci test that I missed last week. They stuck me in this room way back in the dark recesses of Waters, like I was a prisoner in a tower or something. I havent got the score back from it, but I am not too confident about the results. Whatever it is, its gotta be better than a zero. Tuesdays gone. No, that is a song I am listening to right now. Uncanny, huh? Tuesday was a boring day I think I went to class and probably played some disc or went swimming that night. I really dont remember, that was entirely too long ago. Oh, I did have a meeting with my leadership group that night at the library I think. Wednesday I went to my 10:30 to pick up a take-home-test and then promptly left and derbed for the next three or four hours. Then to jogging and straight to leadership where I stunk (stank?) through the movie The Great Santini, which I have to write an essay over by next class period. Thursday was pretty standard until 7 that night. Anyone on campus knows what Im talking about, because the sidewalks have been covered with advertising for weeks. Yes, thats right, Thursday night I went and heard the famous Joe speak in McCain. I attended with a rather critical mindset (I have not been a big fan of this occultist propaganda since its first appearance on campus I might post a rant about it in a couple of days check website if youre curious.) but I must say I left the presentation with a much higher outlook on Joe and his message. I still dont agree with the poor misguided boy, but I have a lot more sympathy for his cause. Afterwards we went swimming at the Nat and JD and I peed in the pool. (haha, jk) Friday morning I was back in McCain to hear Rep. JC Watts of Oklahoma speak as part of the famous Landon Lecture Series on campus. This guy was the QB of the OSU team in 80 and 81 and is now the only black republican in congress. Or, as Alex likes it: hes the only black republican in da house, haha. He talked about the state of the nation and some concerns he has. The guy is only 44 years old and he is already a major player in the House of Representatives: keep your eye on him, this guys gonna shake things up. I had a very lazy day the rest of the day. That night I went to ballroom dancing and then chilled with the guys at TJs place. Dang, GTA3 is addicting. Saturday I was awoken at something like 6 in the morning by Carolyn dropping off her car key. I guess I deserved it, I did wake her up pretty late the night before but 6? Where is the compassion? Where is the decency? I spent a long time yesterday at the mall with JD and Kari. Now I dont know if this year is different for some reason, or if it just the Manhattan Mall, or what, but there was more displays of womens underwear out yesterday than I believe I have ever seen at a mall before in my life. It was everywhere. JD and I puzzled about this for a long time, and we have not come up with any rationality to most female undergarments. Then again, we are men - and thusly pigs, so what do we know? At 7:30 or so I drove out to Tuttle in Carolyns car (I left the cow seat covers, the rainbow steering wheel cover, and tinkerbell hanging from the rearview mirror in their place and got some weird looks on the way because of it) to attend an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for the late Chris Shipley. It was a very good ceremony, I thought, considering the circumstances. Afterwards I got to drive around MHK for a while. I took JD to the atm on the way back, then went to the gas station and to Arbys with Ashley, came back to Hay7, at which point Alex and Carolyn came over and we left again to hit Daras, Burger King, and Gumbys. I was the chauffer all night, but I really enjoyed it seeing as how I dont get the opportunity to drive very much anymore. After the grub run, we chilled and watched a movie til late I dont know what time it was. Sunday I did virtually nothing until we trekked to Chipotle for dinner (God bless Chipotle we are going to write a song aobut their burritos they are the size of small children!) Sunday was also Dereks birthday, happy B-day D! Fink and Lindy: Derek is my roommate, remember? After the burrito run we retired to the sanctuary and watched Space Cowboys while Carolyn helped me with my theater project. Thanks Carolyn, couldnt have done it withoutcha! I would like to take this time to respond to the Lindsay Hoover Quote of the Day from yesterday. You all got sent this email by Lindsay although Im not sure she knows she sent it to all of you guys. At any rate, for those of you who deleted it because you dont have a clue who she is (she is a friend of mine and my ballroom dancing partner) the quote from her was this: If you do what youve always done Youll be where youve always been. I think (and Lindsay, please correct me if Im wrong) that she is trying to advocate busting out and trying new things: Learning by experience, and becoming familiar with the previously unknown. I agree with this almost unquestioningly but I think that if you are going to endeavor to relocate yourself whether metaphorically or not then you need to know where you are going to end up! I submit these quotes in response to you, Lindsay: Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination. - Fitzhugh Dodson. If you dont know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else. - Yogi Berra. I eagerly await your response or a response from any of yall for that matter! I close with this: Girls, and I mean ALL girls are nothing but trouble. Every now and then I see something in a girl and Im like Hey, that cant be trouble, but in the end it just turns out to be sneaky trouble that was hiding. Despite all this however, I still like girls and I think that a little trouble can really add a lot of fun to ones life! -deadsexydave |
