| Weekend Update 10 |
| 4-15 Hey kids, sorry that the update is a little late this time around. Geo- I hope this shizzles your nizzle right off! It is a beautiful day outside, the beautiful people are out (sunbathing), and I am sitting inside writing a weekend update for yall. I hope you appreciate what I go through for you guys! I really wish I was out on the boat right now the wind has been eluding me thus far this season, but Ill catch it eventually. You all know the standing offer: I need about 5 minutes of prep time to through a water bottle and the keys in my bag and to let people know where Im going, and then we could be at the lake exactly one hour and fifteen minutes later. I am waiting for your calls! Monday was normal I think. I really have a hard time remembering Mondays to tell you the truth. I have a very deep-rooted moral problem with Monday mornings in general; especially when I am expected to do something like go to class for instance. Anyway, I probably went to theater design, skipped poli-sci, and then went jogging as usual. Tuesday I think I went to soc yeah. I probably did that, and then it can be assumed that I went to expos as well. Now Wednesday, I DO remember Wednesday! I had 4 papers due on this day for the SAME CLASS. Not like dinky papers (ok, one was), no, these were MAMA-JAMA papers, with big sharp pointy teeth. I skipped every class I had on Wed, and skipped a wonderful sailing day as well, and sat in my room and wrote like a monk on speed from 7 in the morning until my leadership class at 2:30. Yes, I know what some of you are thinking. To those of you who are critical of the ways of the procrastinators: I have a really, really slammin reply but I dont feel like writing it now, maybe next week. Anyway, after the whole finger-cramping paper-writing thing, I went to dance class that night. As embarrassing as it is to admit, we got thoroughly slapped-around. I do not pretend to be any sort of above-average dancer, but Lindsay and I both agreed that we sucked. Maybe this week will be better. (Lindsay, you better get in touch with me and lemme know when you are free to practice!) Thursday was an interesting day: I did the whole class thing, and then decided rather spontaneously to go out to the boat and see if the storms had cleared enough to go sailing with Carolyn that night. Well I was almost ready to go when the Haymaker fire alarm went off. I strolled leisurely down the steps to wait for the 5 minutes it takes to check the building, only slightly annoyed by the delay. Well there was some huge screw-up, because we ended up chilling outside of Haymaker for TWO AND A HALF HOURS before they would unlock the doors and allow us back in our homes. We left a lot later than expected, but went out to the lake and had a quite pleasant, and very late, night of sailing despite the lack of constant wind. Friday morning I got up early (UGH) and went to breakfast with seor JD, took a shower and then went back for a nap before class at 10:30. My dreams were interrupted (literally) by some white trash, minimum wage laborer in Goblin-Boys old room next door. Understand I have nothing against white trash, minimum wage laborers only this particular skank. She was scraping paint from the pipes in Goblin Boys room with a chisel at 9 in the morning, creating this horrid screeching noise that echoed all the way down the hall. Why is anyone in the Goblins old room anyway? No one lives there this semester. Why is she scraping paint off the pipes? Why is she using a chisel? And most of all, in the name of all that is holy, WHY is she doing this at 8:45 in the morning after I have had very little sleep? I walked right in, mostly nude, and told her I had a huge test that day which I needed sleep for, and to cut it out. She did for a while, and I got my rest and went to class at 10:30. The rest of Friday was lazy: I hitched a ride back to Olathe with JD and his pops, and then just chilled in Olathe that night. I dont think I went out on Friday, but its hazy I might have. Saturday I spent performing an exorcism on the family computer at home, reformatting, installing WinXP and stuff like that. That night I went to the Olathe East Talons Drill Team Spring Show. This was quite a blast from the past for me, as I had only been there for about 5 minutes when Mr. Larkin (theater techie and teacher extraordinaire) asked me if I was busy and if I remembered my way around the theater. Of course I do!!! Shnikey man, I could do any kind of work imaginable in that theater, and I could do it in the dark with a rabid penguin chasing me! Well I got to help set up for the show, which was tons of fun I had really missed playing the whole techie role. Then I was privileged enough to be shown to the reserved seating up in the spotlight booth. I watched the show from there with the famous Miss Lindy. I was rather unimpressed with the show as a whole (some of the sophs are worse dancers than I am! Ha!), but there were certainly parts that more than made up for that: specifically some of the small ensembles and the solo preformed by Lisa. Now some may call me biased or whatever, but I am saying this as an expert with a lot of experience and a keen eye: Lisa, you have improved an incredible amount since I last saw you dance and you were great then! I think without any doubt that yours was one of the best dances in the show. It was very nice to see you in your last performance as a Talon, especially considering the job you did! ? Sunday I drove back to MHK in the morning, walked to Goodcents with the guys and Carolyn, and then went to the library at 12:30 in the morning to look up some information on a play for my theater design class. So all in all boys and girls, I think I have had a rather interesting week. I hope that this one goes just as well, minus the fire alarm and the bad dancing (from me, not the Talons) and I hope that there will be a lot more sailing. Keep pluggin gang, were almost there! To you seniors: you have no idea the wonders that await you, dont screw it up now by trying to get into Dr. Barrys pants or anything. Learn your lesson from Fink keep out of your teachers pants! Have a groovy week and spread some love! TenaciousDave |
