| 2-10 it is 12:12 AM, the morning of Sunday, Feb 10 and it is time for your dave plumb weekend update. this week was one of the best i've had here in the veritable utopia that is manhattan kansas. classes were relativly easy this week, ive had a great time haging out with the crew here, and ive just been generally happy all week. Headlines: I survived the 10k on sunday. Those of you that have known me for a while may remember that my dad and I used to run the Groundhog Run every feb but that we havent in several years now. well this year we did it, with no training whatsoever... and it showed! i came darn close to tossin' some cookies around the cave at about mile six, but we finished. we even beat the 68 year old german lady! with that race, i have started training for a marathon that i plan on running in june with my cousin. it is good to know that i am not the only completely crazy plumb. there is some debate as to the location i think but as of right now i think that it will be june 2nd in sunny san diego, cali. i am looking forward to it, but the training is killing me already! i suppose it will get easier, or at least that is what i am telling myself. for those of you unfortunate enough to have clicked on that link on the bottom of the "links" page on my website (the one labeled DO NOT CLICK HERE)... i want to extend my deepest apologies for the trauma you were forced to endure and also to let you know that i am thoughroughly ammused with the joke i was able to play on all of you. i have regrettfully taken this link off now, due to the request of my very curious and rather unammused father. that added quite the humorous element to my week. those of you that do not know what i am talking about... be glad that you dont! i am learning something that most of you will laugh at. i can now cha cha with some degree of accuracy about 8 times out of ten. im not very good, but my partener is picking it up at an astonishing rate and im doing my best to keep up. who would have thought that you can earn college credit for dancing to some great music (santana? smash mouth?) once a week? war is threating on the horizon. not the war on terror or war on drugs, not even on the RISK board down in chris and jesse's room... the war i am talking about is against amy, allison and their prospective allies on 4th floor west hall. it began a while ago with that phone call to our room at 3 am and has now escalated with the events of thursday night. friday night was downright scary when i almost had my testicles squished at ballroom dance class by robin, the RA on their floor. to all of you i say only this: be afraid ladies, be very afraid. vengence will be forthcoming and severe. the overwhelming majority of people i hang out with here at school have returned to their respective places of origin this weekend, so jesse and i are hanging out, bored out of our ever-lovin' minds. today we were so bored that he shaved my head. i was getting kinda shaggy again and i figure it might help with the aerodynamics when i run! so now i am lightheaded again, just like im supposed to be. the clock has now rolled over 2 am, i have been writing sporadically, as well as yappin with geo and eating a snack-pack and drinking some hot choclate. it is time for bed... i do have a significant amount of homework to do tomorrow. i congradulate any of you that have made it this far through this email, though i wonder how many of you that will be. i might make this a week-end-ly tradition, but i am usually much more busy... we'll see. everyone have a happy valentine's day even though they should rename it to "dave's birthday eve." kickin' it old school- shorndave |
