Carbon, Nitrogen, and Water Cycles

The Adventures of the Nitrogen Atom by Andy
The Nitrogen cycle is one of the most complex but least known cycles of the African Savanna. I will try to make this as interesting as possible.
The Nitrogen Atom is currently in the atmosphere where it won't stay for long. The nitrogen is absorbed by an organism and is absorbed through the blood stream and used by the animal and released through the bodily wastes and returned to the soil and used. It stays there because it is unable to be used by bacteria before an essential change is made. A surprising natural force, lightning, makes this essencial change. The lightning changes the chemical formula of the nitrogen and combines it with another element to make a kind of nitrus oxide. This is used by plants to help them grow and is held in their wood until it is released by combustion and it is released into the atmosphere. The nitrogen is released by the burning and is released in the state of a gas and is used by an organism again and the cycle starts all over...
