Combat Shaolin, a new book on the Northern Shaolin fighting technique, was published in March 2004. The book was co-authored by Gary Tang, Albert Loui and Brian Klingborg (Unique Publications, ISBN: 0865682151).

The Secrets of Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu: The History, Form and Function of Pek Sil Lum by Lai Hung and Brian Klingborg was published in 1999 (Tuttle Publishing, ISBN: 0804831645) The book provides a concise history of Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and of Sifu Lai Hung. It covers the basic kicks and punches and their applications. The book also contains many photos illustrating the most important exercises of the Lai Hung Chinese Martial Arts Institute and Northern Shaolin set number six.
