Once more death has entered a family and taken our beloved mother.  Lucy Jane Robinson was born August 28, 1871 in Perry county, Ohio the daughter of Thomas and Matilda Smith Robinson.
Her parents died when she was nine yers old, then she and her sister Alice, 7, came to live with their Uncle Henry Smith on Otter Creek.  From a family of nine children, Alice is the only one remaining.
She was married to Scott Melvin April 6, 1894.  Her husband passed away April 14, 1933.  She lived on a farm on Salem Ridge until 1931, when she and her husband moved to La Farge Wisconsin.
These last years were spen in raising flowers, reading her Bible, piecing quilts and knitting rugs and many times in her last ten weeks of illness she spent in prayer.  She told her children she was happy and ready to go.
She was the mother of 11 children of which 8 are living: Emo Melvin, Mrs. Pearl Campbell, Bazil Melvin, Mrs. John Sokolik, Mrs. Ernest Tripoli, all of Wisconsin, Ms. Thomas Mill and Mrs. George Mills of Viroqua, Wisconsin.
Besides her 8 children she leaves 39 great grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and one sister, Alice Strait of Otter Creek.
Grandma Melvin was 82 years old when she peacefully fell asleep on October 1, 1953.
I cannot say........and I will not say....That she is dead......she is just.......away.
