About

This website was built as a final project for a web design class. The premise was we were hired by our "uncle" to desine a webpage for their business. It could have been any business we chose. I decided to build a website around the trucking industry because I have family members within this industry which have shared their experience over the years and thought this would be something different outside of a boutique, bakery, or restaurant.

Design

The design choices stem from my experiences in graphic design. Two colors, burgundy and white, were chosen to ease of readability and professional aesthetics. Burgundy is the main color because it promotes feelings of professionalism and elite pride; two characteristics you want to convey to potential clients. The font chosen was Cambria for its appearance and compatability. The website also required images, tables, and forms; along with 5 different pages.

Page Breakdown and Rationale

The home page is designed to be the entryway for the clients. The coverage pages is designed to give a visual representation of the coverage area for the trucks. The certifications page is a list of the different endorsements that trucking companies use to haul various loads and gives a represenation of what kind of jobs they can take and where. The drivers page is a table that lists the drivers, the truck teh drive, the state they're in, and the endorsements they hold. The trucks page shows images of teh trucks the business uses. Finally, teh about page is the break down of the final project and its construction. The colors and fonts are unifrom throughout the website for professional appearance and to reduce over-stimulation of the visitor.

The Future

For the future of the website, it will be used as a test bed of different styling mechanics, visual upgrades, and interactive upgrades. I would like to add an interactive coverage map with an image ap used to show driver information as the mouse hovers over the states. I would like to try and add a chat option for potential clients to be able to get quick answers. There are some floating menus that are dynamic instead of static that could provide a benefit to users when it comes to website usability.
