Q. Why does Chiropractic care involve ongoing
treatments after the pain is gone?
A. Our highest priority is to provide you
with lasting comfort. In order to achieve long-term pain relief, our
goal is to align your spine so your body can heal itself naturally
-- without drugs or surgery! That's why your complete program of
care often involves a series of spinal adjustments over a period of
weeks or months. Here's why...
"Pain Relief" is only the first phase of
care. Depending upon how long you've had your condition, after only
one or two adjustments, the spine has a tendency to return to its
previously misaligned position between adjustments. Once your pain
is relieved, the next phase is "Corrective Care", which is directed
toward correcting joint dysfunction. This enables your adjustments
to "hold" longer and heal more fully.
The final stage is "Stabilization Care".
Stable joints don't easily move out of place. It's much like someone
who wears orthodontic braces. If the braces come off too soon, the
teeth go back to their original misalignment. This is similar to
what happens with your spinal joints when you stop treatment too
soon!
