My collection puts me in touch with people all
over the world, Bausch says. Its a delight to
be a part of a whole network of collectors.
How narrow life must be without a hobby!
Bausch began to widen his perspective
through collecting early in his youth. I was
encouraged and supported in my collecting by
my parents. As a boy I always collected; I was
the nickel and-dime guy that took crocks and
snowbirds and other curios that nobody else
wanted at auctions. My collection of
automobile memorabilia and toys began when
I was 14. I was fascinated by a picture of a
Ford Model T on the back of the Ford Times
Magazine. Soon After, I purchased my first
antique car, a 1913 Ford, which I completely
rebuilt. From then on, I had a desire to collect,
which I was never able, or willing, to shake.
Some of Davids areas of interest include
automotive art, advertising items, ceramics,
photographs of brass era autos, and sheet
music or records with auto songs.
