There are these people who drive in black buses and mini-vans blaring Imperial Army music and slogans for all foreigners to get out of Japan. These modern right-wing extremists demand three things: (1) an end to the postwar "system of dependence" on the United States; (2) restoration of the emperor to his prewar, divine status; and (3) repudiation of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution (that is, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes and they can not possess a military.)
Many, if not most, right-wingers have intimate connections with Japan's gangster underground, the yakuza.
Please keep in mind that they are in the minority and regular Japanese people tend to ignore them. |
