To start I used a lot of the code we learned the first weeks of class. I wrote down most of the code and used it to begin my design process. There have been a few things that were shown in the videos that just did not work for me at all. I had to do many days of research and found many different answers. This was time consuming but I was able to sift through to get the ones that would work for me. I would find some things worked nice and easy, other things that may have seemed simple ended taking me hours if not days to figure out. I then began the final steps in creating the website. It was difficult to change things after they are uploaded to the Geocities website because of all the changes made to get it to work for that site.
I think the website turned out very well for a rookie who had no idea how to do any of this. I have used the colors of the business to keep the color scheme not only consistent, but also to keep it inline with the business being promoted. I tried to use a font large enough to be easily read but also not detract from the main points of each page, like the tables. I did not add any videos because there were none available of K&K. This is why I added different pictures and the logo on each page. I feel that a random video would detract from the information being provided. I also think that the pictures though somewhat covered, allows the viewer to feel more comfortable with the business. I feel like the advice I got to change my code from: /*.container { position: relative; width: 99%; height: 100%; margin: 0 auto; background-image: url("img/file.jpeg"); background-size: cover; background-color: navy; color: white; padding: 5px }*/ to: .container { position: relative; width: 75% height: 100%; margin: 0 auto; background-color: rgba(199, 194, 209, .5); color: navy; padding: 5px text-shadow: 0px 1px 14px rgba(0,0,0,1.0); } helped a lot, to make the site look more professional.
There are two things that I would have liked to have had the time to continue to work on. The first is the images. I would liked to have been able to crop those and position them differently. I would have made it so the picture fit the page, meaning the subject of the picture was more visible on all types of devices, and browsers. I would have also liked to have played around with some of the font. I tried different colors, shadowing the font and making it larger. This was the best I could accomplish with my limited knowledge and my nonexistent experience. I do think with more time for experimentation and fixing the pictures that I could make it a little better.
