Los Angeles, of course, is a magnet for would-be actors, and acting schools abound. To the left is Howard Fine's Acting Studio, sitting above The Daily Grind Coffee Shop on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood.
Melrose Avenue (above)  is known mainly for the mile stretch that lies between La Brea and Fairfax. It's full of clothes stores, small record stores, jewelry stores, and other businesses for the young and fashionable. Even on Melrose, this store stands out. "Necromance" sells bones and skeletons. You can buy all sorts of animal bones and skeletons in here - even human skulls if you wish. It's quite a fascinating store.
I walked past this fellow (left) on Hollywood Blvd.
These 2 pictures are of one of Dennis Woodruff's cars. He has several like this. Dennis is one of many struggling actors in Hollywood, though unlike the others, he has the most unique way of promoting himself through his many cutsomised cars which all bear his name and number, for any casting director that might want to hire him.
Now talking of people who are heavily into self-promotion, there is no other like Angelyne. Her billboards have appeared all over town since at least 1986 when I moved here. What is she famous for? What does she do? Nobody knows. She is just known for being Angelyne, That is it. I saw a 45 minute documentary on her once and still couldn't tell you what she does after watching the whole thing. She can often be seen driving around town in a pink Corvette.
Here's Angelyne's latest patriotic post September 11th billboard. She's actually, erm, a bit older than the billboards might lead you to believe. We still don't have the faintest idea what she actually DOES.
Here is a view of Hollywood from Hollywood Blvd looking north to one section of the Hollywood Hills. The small blurry white thing on top of the hill is the famous Hollywood Sign. If you'd like to see it a little more close-up, then follow me on my recent trek up the hills to see the sign at closer quarters.................
