David and Amey's Wedding

What time should we get there?

10:15 AM would be playing it pretty safe.

What time will things start to wind down?

The Danada folks will probably begin stacking the chairs and disassembling the bar by 3:00 PM.

What kind of dress is appropriate?

Well short of black-tie; nicer than business casual. Or, ladies: to north of a sundress, to the south of a cocktail dress.

Is this a brunch or a lunch? What kind of food can we expect?

The word we like is "luncheon."

What other fun stuff is going on that weekend in Chicagoland?

Well, the Cubs are playing the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, and there's the Gay Pride Parade, which draws close to half a million people. Chicago also has a number of world-class museums, plus a planetarium and an aquarium, not to mention a free zoo. For starters.

What's the deal with the cicadas?

Well, every 17 years in May or June, billions of these giant insects unburrow themselves from the ground, looking for a mate. And the last time this happened was 1990. Which means... we might get treated to a special kind of symphony. They don't bite, but they are large, with bright red eyes, and they can be individually as loud as lawnmowers. So, that's what the deal is.
