Day 2:
Route:
Susquehanok Pk. (from Susquehanok State Park)
372W (to Terminus)
74S
821W
516N
216? (to Cordorus
State Park)
09:47 I’m at the intersection of 372 and 74. Must decide to take 74N or 74S probably gonna go south because Louisville is South, but West Virginia conjures up images of gigantesque hills, beautiful (on postcards), but quadriceptually torturous. We’ll see. I like to entertain myself with the idea, albeit self-deceiving, that the hills come to an end with the end of 372, but fuck it. Mind over matter right? Tell it to my legs.
Crossed the Susquehanna river, thought I was plunging into hell, imagine first thing in the morning plunging down a road you don’t know on a bicycle at 40mph then all of a sudden it gets cold and super foggy! I took a picture afterwards to show you. Da bridge and my bitch… hah… L8R
20:27 It was another long hard day. I made it to Cordorus State Park right next to Hanover, PA. It’s cool. I’ve realized, or rather, accepted, that I won’t make it to Louisville on time, because the hills are more difficult than I thought.
I can’t rush or else it won’t be fun and I’ll get hurt or sick. We’ll see, I might take tomorrow off, or make a really short trip, we’ll see. The campground I’m at is nice but the bathrooms are locked… I did see a cat and a mouse and a host of weird insects. I also saw llamas. Yeah, there was a llama farm on 216, it was funny as hell, I took a picture of it.
DAMN that mouse keeps coming back, that little fucker freaked me out. Oh well, I’m gonna try and bathe in the wash basin sinks. I have to clean off some.
I put in like 60 or 70 miles today I think. That’s pretty good, rolled from 08:30 till 18:30/19:00.
I’m tired as hell, good night.
