| I'd like to begin the comment by quoting from GSI site: "Mr.Giussani is one of the Europe's most interesting guitar makers. Giussani guitar is very heavy due to having extra-thick back and sides. This forces the top to do all the vibrating, making this guitar project extremely well while retaining all the clarity of the note. This instrument is extremely well-suited to ensemble work (with percussion ensemble, orchestra, piano, etc.) and Pepe Romero has had great success performing on these guitars for concerto work while on tour in Europe. It is also used by members of guitar ensembles, including the Brazilian Guitar Quartet and Guitart Quartet." Here, I would like to add one more great player, Mr. Anthony Glise, who in fact introduced and recommended this guitar personally to me. He himself owns 4 Giussanis. Well, this particular Giussani guitar is named "Ramdal" (Mr. Giussani puts name on each of his guitar, instead of serial numbers). It has a smooth but sweet sound, and very balanced. Definetely not a Spanish sound! Very rich in tone colors. One more outstanding feature is its long sustain. Playibility and craftmanship are superb. I didn't feel tired playing with this guitar for many hours. As they say: "Nothing is perfect in this world", this guitar was not very responsive, which honestly quite annoyed me. Maybe I needed to be more patient to get it played in and then expect it to be more fast-attack, but I did not that much patience. Soon I began to analyze the root of this slow response, and I concluded the answer must have been the thick back/sides. I wondered how the sound of a Giussani is, with a lighter material for back/side like maple. This big question and curiousity lead me to selling this guitar to acquire a new Giussani with birds-eyed maple back/side, which became my second Giussani. For further information about this guitar, please also check Mr Giussani's personal website. |
