Kill Them Both
“No!” Corik shouted in a fury of rage. He deserved death, they all deserved it for what they did to him. He drew his lightsaber and attacked instantly and unexpectedly.
Capula was surprised at the Jedi’s reaction, and had little time to react. He got his saber out in defense just in time to protect himself. Corik however, was not defending. He threw swings down mercilessly like he had never before. He let his anger envelope and control him, letting it bring him all his power. He was no longer controlled, no longer held down by boundaries and rules. He had the power, and he used it.
After a few more swift and powerful attacks, Deneg was on the ground, panting. Corik gave him no last words, he struck the Sith right there to finish it. Corik’s eyes and heart burned with passion and strength, and as he looked over at Master Edem the fire within him began to grow. He walked quickly over, his saber drawn over his head, ready to strike.
Master Edem looked at him innocently, knowing he could do nothing but plead for mercy, for at his best he could only match the former Corik, not defeat him. And in his state he was not at his best. Corik didn’t care, his face asked the question Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you betray me? Are the Jedi all lies? He didn’t want answers, he wanted justice. And he delivered it in one hard swing.
It was over. He had control now. He looked for the nearest elevator up and headed to the surface. He went straight for the Jedi Temple, and made sure not a single Jedi was left unpunished for the evil they committed by compromising and accepting the rule of the enemy. Corik would change everything. He would rule, and create an empire that ruled justly.
Capula went on to become the government of the Republic. Corik dissolved the Senate, convincing the people that his actions against President Capula and the Jedi were a sign of his wisdom above that of the corrupt bureaucrats. Kiroc became his new name, and the name for his new Republic, his empire. All was to be good and right for the rest of his days.
Though he had ultimate freedom and power, Kiroc still was missing something in his heart. His anger and fear and hatred gave him strength, but they fed his heart only ashes. Kiroc had no answer to this emptiness, and spent his life looking for something more, something true. He died at 200 years of age, the most powerful Jedi and ruler ever to live, but perhaps the emptiest one.
