Blaster Pistols

He grabbed the pistols and ran outside. He looked around in the direction the noise was mainly coming from. Fighters and troops off in the distance bore symbols he didn’t recognize. He didn’t know what was going on, but the amount of blaster and ship fire indicated it wasn’t just some trigger happy raiding party. No, this was something much bigger.
There was a small group of hunters in front of him heading out of a shed not much bigger than his hut. As he sprinted to catch up with the group, he looked ahead to see where they were going. He saw the barracks in the distance, about 1/3 mile away. Being the most fortified building in the area, that must be where they were headed.
When he caught up, the guy farthest back looked back at him. Corik recognized his face. The medium length black hair and small blue eyes were enough. It was his old friend Jethra from back at the orphanage.
Both shouted in excitement when they realized. They exchanged hellos and introductions as they dashed across the sand. Corik found out, between the panting breaths, that Jethra had joined up with the hunters ahead of him not long after Corik left. Corik was glad to see him again.
They looked off in the distance at the groups of assault droids closing in on the barracks. Fighters and bombers laced the sky and ground with heavy lasers and energy bombs. Corik noticed a couple ships heading his way and he eyed the pistols in his hand. He knew their best chance was a few lucky shots, for they couldn’t avoid the fighters out on the open sand.
“Fire at those ships.” Corik shouted to the hunters. Not a moment to soon the hunters began firing at the ships, seconds after Corik had given the word. Corik himself fired repeatedly with his two blaster pistols, but the rifles that the hunters carried were much more effective given the long range.
The ships returned fire immediately, scattering them all around and shredding a few to pieces. However, the men quickly reformed and continued firing. A few good shots and both fighters came down in a burst of flames. As they gave a quick shout of victory, the hunters pressed on.
Corik followed, and soon enough they had reached the back entrance to the barracks among the rocks. The front was already being fired upon by assault droids and Corik knew the battle was just beginning. Jethra held the trap door open for all to enter. After Corik had made his way in, Jethra followed and locked the door behind him.
