About The Site

This site has been designed to give anyone with an interest in history a small insight into the world of metal detecting and to give people an opportunity to see some of the metal artifacts and coins found by us in the S. Wales area

A browse arond the site will give a few tips for beginners to the hobby.I use an XLT and Steve uses a DFX so we have also tried to add a few programmes for other White's users and some links to other sites that we find useful for interest and research.

We would both like to thank all farmers and landowners who have kindly given permission to detect on their land because without their help we wouldn't be able to persue our hobby and many more artifacts and coins will continue deteriorate, be damaged by the plough and will be lost forever.Anyone in the S. Wales area who is interested in the history of their land, lost an expensive machine part or anything of any value is welcome to contact us and we'll do what we can to help.

The Roman hoard (right) consisting of 103 silver denarii covering almost every emporer from Nero to Antonius Pius was Steves first significant find found on a field that has had many club rallies on it and was thought to have been worked out. It is on our roman page and can be viewed at the National Museum and Galleries Wales.

About Us

Steve has been detecting for almost three years now and in this small space of time has had some remarkable finds.Already some of his finds have included things that some of us can only dream about and are seldom found after a lifetime of detecting. These include a Roman coin hoard, a Viking sword and a gilded Anglo Saxon cruciform mount still with centre stone intact.
I started detecting about twenty years ago but gave up after about six months having found only a few buckles, buttons and pre decimal coins.Steve's display case inspired me to take the hobby up again eighteen months ago.Now with a few nice finds of my own and a lot more knowledge and I'm well and truly hooked.

He needs to get out detecting !....            He needs to get out detecting !....
