Davenport, Iowa
2001 Flood Pictures

On April 25, 2001 The Mississippi River reached an official crest of 22.32 feet.
The river is slowly inching it's way back down, but probably won't fall below the
15 foot flood stage in Davenport until mid May.

More than 200 National Guard members were helping in Davenport with sandbagging
and levee patrols.  Many thanks to them, the Red Cross, all the volunteers,
and Davenport's "finest" for a job that was
"over and beyond the call of duty"

Six of the 10 Iowa Counties affected by the flood
has exceeded 4.7 million.
At least 1,516 homes have been damaged,
and 40 homes destroyed.
